Is one day enough time to cover all of Disney's Magic Kingdom or should we plan for 2 days?

I haven't been there since I was 5, I can't remember a thing & I'm the only person I know who's been there. It looks really big but then again that doesn't mean that we aren't going to be able to cover it all in 12 hours.
Additional Details
we a going to be in Florida for 7 days. While there are are going to visit, The Magic Kingdom (at least 1 maybe 2 days) MGM & the Wild Kingdom. We have decided not to go to Epcot though. Also while there we are going to Sea World & Kennedy Space Center. Also we wanted to spend a day at the beach. We have young ones (ages 3 & 4) so we don't want to overload them to much because then no one will have fun.

Just to do every good ride/attraction once can take two days if it's busy. You'll probably find a few rides you want to do over and over, so it's not like two days can be too much.

prettypumkin17
You will definitely need more than one day if you want to cover everything. I think a lot of the classic disney adventures are overated. You should select certain attractions you want to see in the twelve hours at the Magic Kingdom and spend the rest of the time at Universal Studios.

the_vandalin
One day should be plenty for the adults but if there are kids, plan on 1.5 - 2 days. If you are staying at the resorts take advantage of the early morning openings.

If you will be going to Animal Kingdom one day is truly enough time because many of the rides are spaced out through all the vegetation and many of the attractions are animal shows or exhibits. So you will have ample time to visit that park and have time to relax. There are also to must dos; eat at the delicious Rainforest Cafe and also go on me at Expedition: Everest. Have a great time at Disney and a magical trip.

I have been to Disney World and we spent 1 day but if I had it to do over I would have planned for 2 or 3 days.

2 days for Magic Kingdom. 1 day for Epcot if you have kids with you. 1 day for Hollywood Studios. 1 day for Animal Kingdom. To maximize your time in the parks, stay at a Disney resort and take advantage of "Magic Hours". Every day one park opens early for resort guests only. One other park will also stay open up to three hours late for resort guests only. If you've got the energy, it's a great way to go. Check out the link below for the days / parks that are offering magic hours. Enjoy.

Go for 2 days or even more if you can. When my family and I went we didn't even cover the whole thing.

Unless you go during the off season and especially with children in tow, you'll definitely want 2 days at the Magic Kingdom.

With kids that young I'd skip MGM and do MK for 2 days. And its Animal Kingdom...not wild. For kids that young I'd purchase hopper tickets so that you can do a few parts of Epcot like the living seas(what kid wouldn't want to see Nemo?) then hop over to do whatever it is you think a 3 & 4 year old would like at MGM. At AK they'll prolly love the animals but hate the Its a Bugs Life show inside the big tree....there are some affects there that might freak them out. Some of the rides they'll be too short for but you and another adult can do the kid swap if you both really want to ride something they can't. I'd also plan a day of relaxation by the pool in the middle of your vacation or the kids may get burned out.

Robyn's Mama
I would say relax and take the two days. It is a big park and there is a lot to do. Remember that your children are small and it will wear everyone out. Since, your family has not been there I would work up to Magic Kingdom. First, go to Animal Kingdom and let them see all the animals. Then, go to MGM, I don't know if you children watch Playhouse Disney, but let them see their favorite characters there. Then go to Magic Kingdom and let them experience all that it has to offer. If you do it the other way around it might be disappointing to your kids to do the other stuff after seeing how magical the Magic Kingdom is.

Good luck and have fun on your trip!

nah not 12 hrs definitely, its wayy bigger than it was 5 yrs ago, but a full 2 days might be a little 2 long--like 1.5 days can cover everything

Nan74
I would take 2 days at least. It is crowded - and to truly enjoy everything don't rush!

DUB-V-U Sopho
You probably could but that depends how much time you will be spending shopping and doing all that. If price isn't an issue however you might want to do two so you wont feel rushed at all.

LaBella
When visiting Disney you need at least two days for one park - of its 4 different parks. Depending when you're traveling, keep in mind the weather and the lines at the parks. Something for you to consider. Good luck

Christian R
magic kingdom should be two day. if you have to eliminate one park eliminate MGM and put Epcot. third WTF is wild kingdom?

dmjrev
Use the speed pass whenever you can. It depends on your party. If you have little kids you will want two days so you don't overwhelm them.

If you are doing each park you will need two days for epoct one is fine for mgm and one for animal kingdom.

We put a few days of Sea World mixed in. It is a relaxing park and when you by a one day pass you get the second free.

Even two days may not be enough time. And if you include Epcott or any of the other parts of DisneyWorld, you could take up to a week.
