Is the Park Hopper Option at Walt Disney World worth the price? |
So...My wife and I are going to Walt Disney World in September. I have been considering purchasing the park hopper option...but I'm not so sure that it is worth it, as the parks are so damn big, that I feel like I may not even use it. What do you guys think?

It gives you a bit more freedom, like you can arrive at a park and it might be busier than you anticipated so you can just hop on a monorail or bus and off to the next park. My boyfriend and I went last September for a week and took our time around the parks. Like start of in Magic Kingdom then when it gets busy in the afternoon go to Epcot and stroll around world showcase, or just whatever you feel like doing. On our second last day we did 4 parks in one day, it was a lot of fun! I think it's definitely worth the extra. |

I definitely think you should. I think all the parks should be experienced, but some are more fun and more eventful than others. I could easily spend 2 days at Magic Kingdom and only 3 hours at Epcot. I also like the Park Hopper because you can go to, let's say Animal Kingdom one day and then at night go to Magic Kingdom for fireworks and the lights parade. You could also go to MGM one day and go to Epcot for just a night (they have fun restaurants with all different country themes). So YES I would say it is definitely worth it. |

Disney could make park hopping easier by building more monorail lines.Parking fees subsidize the monorail system but there has been no extension of the monorail for twenty five years.
Parking fees that all guests pay subsidize the Magical Express bus system for resort guests only.Restaurant prices that all guests pay subsidize the meal plan for resort guests only.
When the Magical Express began parking fees shot up and when the meal plan began food prices shot up.Disney plays games with money because everyone plays games with money. |

Depends on how long you're staying. What has worked for us in the past is to buy a 4 day park hopper. Spend one full day at Magic Kingdom, one full day at Epcot, one nearly full day each at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios and then "hop" over to either Epcot or MK to hit the spots you missed.
If you have longer than 4 days to stay, a 6 day basic pass will pretty much cover it all. In my opinion, Magic Kingdom (the rides) and Epcot (the sheer size) are good for two full days each. Animal Kingdom has shorter hours than the other parks, and Hollywood Studios can be done in 1 day or less easily. If you have any free time, head for Downtown Disney.
Have a great trip! |

Depends on how long you are staying and what you plan on doing.
For example - you visit park A but want to have dinner in park B. You are staying on site and you want to start at park A but park B has the extended evening hours (which we love). For a short trip I would say no, but if you are there for 6 or more days - it's still a flat $50. so the per day is very affordable. We tend to "hop" almost everyday for one reason or another. Maybe too crowded at one location and decide to try another. Want to go back to the resort for a nap and go to another when we get up. If you talk yourself into "finishing" a park in one day, as you said they are big - you will probably be exhausted and not care by day 3. We like pieces of the parks at a time.
Good luck with your choice and have fun. |

I went to Disney for the first time in 2007 and got the park hopper pass. To me its worth it. I mainly used it for Animal Kingdom since they close early. After they close I can go to any of the other resorts. Also if you want to wait and do your shopping on your final day its good. I know you can send your purchases back to your room but if you can't decide on what to get you can go to all on your final day and not worry about buying something you don't want. |

I think the parks are so darn big that you probably won't want to use it. Unless you go to WDW frequently and aren't concerned about "seeing everything" then you will want to spend your time in the parks doing park stuff, and not spend your time travelling between parks. Even then, unless you are paricularly "stuck" on dining in Epcot or breakfasting in Animal Kingdom, most people just pick a park for the day and stick with it. |

Park hopper tickets are the only way to go, and will actually save so much time! If you are considering a Disney resort, they have "extra magic hours" and some of the time, there will be different parks for the morning and the evening hours. The extra magic hours are truly magic, until the park opens to the general public in the morning, or right before it closes to the general public in the evening. These are the times you want to get out of these parks and head to another. It is true that the magic kingdom is always the most crowded, and in the late morning is the worst, especially if they had their extra morning magic hour that day. Don't waste your time standing in lines when you could go to the other parks that didn't attract quite as many people. Of course, you could do with out it. It isn't necessary for the Disney experience. (Especially since this is a trip for two adults who know what is allowed and what isn't.) But it provides a flexibility you can't achieve from anything else.
You may find on this trip that one park is so much fun, and you'll want to spend two days there, but maybe that would mean missing another park. Of course, you could always split that time between two parks with your park hopper tickets. |

NO NO NO NO NO, not worth the extra $50 per ticket!
My family and I went in July, '08, and did not buy parkhoppers for the very reason you stated in your question: The parks are big, and there is plenty to do at each park without need to waste time travelling from park to park.
The base ticket allows you to go to one park per day, but you do not have to stay in the park all day. You can go back to your hotel to rest and return to the same park for the night show. You don't even have to pay for parking again as the parking fee is good all day.
Save the cash. Don't get parkhoppers. |

park hopper tickets are great because you can spend your day time at one park and go home for food and then in the evening go to a different park to see the shows. also if you get half way through the day and decide you want to move on you can. i have been to florida three times and think they are a great idea. |

It depends on where you are staying and how easily you can get from park to park. But if you have little children that need to take naps and regroup their energy during the day, park hopper is so worth the extra |

Deffinatley get it!...yes the parks are huge but sometimes they can get boring. If you spend your whole day at hollywood studios you will get bored. There is only so much to do. When you get hot and want a water ride you need to go to magic kingdom. That means u will pay for 2 parks and thats crazyyyyy expensive. The park hopper lets you have the freedom to do whatever whenever!...THIS IS THE BEST THING TO GET WHEN GOING TO DISNEY! |

definetly! i havnt been to disney yet, but im going in june, and so far it sounds great. you can go to any park you want, any time you want, just show your parkhopper card and hop onto the monerail. if you dont get it, youll hav eto book for certain times. very tedious. |

I don't think you will use it if you like riding rides. You will be too tired to go to a different park. |
