Is the excalibur hotel las vegas a good choice to stay at?

Mr realistic...believer in truth
The Excalibur is possibly the largest toilet in America!
I am kidding of course....but it really is a dump.
If you need a room and will be out and about I suppose it will do.

I hated it it - but it's not bad, it's on the strip, it's cheaper than most hotels. It's just kind of older and tackier than some of the newer ones.

I loved the Excalibur. I think you can't go wrong with this hotel. It's so easy to get around Vegas, all hotels are compacted in the same street. We walked the entire strip a couple of times, it's just so fun going into each hotel. You should also take the kids to the circus in Circus Circus.
There is a bus that runs up and down the strip 24 hours.

I have stayed there before and can honestly tell you that's it's not the best by a long shot. Excalibur has taken over the reins from Cirus Circus as the "family friendly" hotel on the strip. Therefore, if you like kids, lots of them, screaming and doing the things kids do, this is the place for you. It's also located on the end of the Strip, which makes its location far. On the plus side, you can ride the monorail between, there, Mandalay Bay and Luxor. The NY NY, Tropicana and MGM Grand are "across the streets". If you self park, be ready for a LONG walk to the hotel. In fact, getting around is always a long walk there.
If you want a better, yet practical place to stay, I recommend Planet Hollywood. It's centrally located on the Strip, offers great food, shows, shopping and gambling. Also, its proximity to the other hotels is fantastic too.
Check out the websites below and good luck.

If you are just looking for a clean place to sleep that's on the Strip then it is a good choice. It's amazing how run down the place has gotten in 12 years in relation to other corner properties.

If you do decide to stay there and want to use the pool make sure you get a room in Tower II and not Tower I. And Sherwood Forest Cafe has a decent breakfast. If you plan on seeing the Tournament of Kings dinner show expect you will want to get something else to eat afterwards also. Greasy and not fulfilling.

I stayed there once and found the hotel rooms to be kinda like a Best Western or Quality Inn. They were OK but not fancy at all. In fact the whole place is kinda Best Besterny. Its in a pretty good location to walk to other Strip hotels but its along walk to see Bellagio fountains, the Volcano at the Mirago, and the Venetian hotel/casino. The main attraction for the hotel is its price; you get what you pay for.

I recommend the Monte Carlo over the Excalibur.

And that would be a NO. If you have kids, then please, stay here. But mind you the property is big, the rooms are a hike to get to and the "south strip" location is not as preferable as a center strip location.

For a great choice that won't break the bank, go with Treasure Island. Yes they are usually upwards of $100 per nite, but you get what you pay for. It is a nice but still affordable property.

Stay away from the Flamingo..just stayed there and it sucks, dont let the cheap rates fool you!

Yes! I've always stayed at this hotel, it's fun and reasonably priced. They just opened up a new restaurant, redid the pool area and all the rooms. I think they also added onto their downstairs kids area.

It is a good choice only for the price and location. It is old and rundown a bit. Bring the most comfortable walking shoes you have or better yet buy a new pair because you will need them. The room you stay in means nothing. You will spend countless hours outside the room walking countless miles. The room is just for sleeping, and for that the Excalibur is a great choice. At least with it's location you can walk nearly anywhere you want. Have Fun!

It's an awesome location. I believe it's the busiest intersection in vegas. The only hotel not worth considering in this intersection is the Tropicana. The Tropicana is a very old hotel wich I find depressing. The Excalibur on the other hand is a great place to stay; it is a hotel that provides standard rooms which I find above standard; and if you pay a little more you get fully renovated rooms. Plus the best deal and value you'll get on the strip with awesome connectivity with the other more expensive hotels wich you can walk to.

jules
its okay the good thing is its not too expensive n its off the strip but its outdated try flamingo or mgm

It depends on what you're looking for. Excalibur is not opulent by any means, it is more of a "fun" kind of place.

Their show "Tournament of Kings" could be enjoyed by anyone from 4 to 104.

Sir Galahads is a nice restaurant but for a hotel of that size they don't have much in the way of food options. Fortunately you are near enough to other hotels that this isn't a problem. Both MGM & Luxor have nice little food courts(fast food). Or you have great 4 & 5 star restaurants nearby.

Excaliburs buffet is mediocre, it's not bad and it's not great, it's just edible food and lots of it.

Pool - I like their pool area, no it's not Mandalay bay.

There will be more kids at Excalibur than at most LV hotels. It's the best family hotel on the strip.

If you're just looking for a fun inexpensive place to stay.

IMO this is the best value hotel in LV.
Very nice rooms, and if you ask for a room(when you check in) on the 16-19th floors that face the strip, it's an awesome view. Depending on the exact room you can see all of the strip, the Palms & Rio plus all the way to Fremont Street(downtonw hotels) - free shuttle to the strip & the Gold Coast/Palms/Rio

I recommend MGM. It's very nice, yet not as high ($$) as some of the other real nice casinos. Probably not that much more than Excalibur, and it sits right by the Excalibur. You still have the great location staying at MGM also.

We always stay at Excalibur. There are not a lot of frills, but it is very affordable and in a great location. I also love their casino (I win small amounts more often than at other casinos), and I love the castle! If you can afford to upgrade to one of the newer rooms, which are the widescreen rooms, it would probably be much nicer than their regular rooms. We have never upgraded, but we don't spend that much time in the hotel room while we are there. I think this year I am going to try the $20 trick for a view room. I would love to be able to look out onto the strip.

It is connected to Mandalay Bay and Luxor by either shuttle or you can walk from one to the other two. In the walkways between the 3 hotels are malls that are pretty neat. It is also right across from MGM which has a monorail station and the bus stop for the deuce is nearby. I made a couple of late night trips to Walgreens for cigarettes and it was an easy walk if you need anything. I would definitely recommend Excalibur. Have Fun!
