Is the snow in New York pure?

Just wondering... would you say that the snow is pure?

Or not?

Only if you have Bette Davis eyes!

Meat Loaf fan
It's as pure as a babbling brook babe.

No - my kids were curious so they collected some snow and let it melt and filter through some kitchen paper. The kitchen paper was grey.

Unfortunately no. Even if the snow is pure as it falls through a fairly polluted atmosphere, by the time it's been on the ground a day or two, it has begun to turn black, covered by auto exhaust and other nasty stuff.

Pure? not sure what you mean. But the snow, when it falls, falls directly from the clouds, so I guess thats as pure as it gets..../

Well I wouldn't eat it.

When I was younger, I use to let it fall on my tongue and didn't sick but in class, my teacher told me that snow is formed by water vapor in the clouds moving around by winds that stick to a microscopic piece of dust. Yuck!

Because of that, I don't eat it any more. If you'd like to learn about New York's air quality see this link and remember, snow is only as pure as the air through which it falls.

0-50 means the air is okay (it goes up to 500) and NY is below 25 so that isn't too bad.

Hope that helps,

Steve
