Today, it was 80 degrees, with an ever-so-light breeze that made the palm trees sway and my hair tickle my shoulders. It's currently, 74 degrees, and there's the faint smell of the ocean. It only gets nicer as the week goes on. I think I'll go sit out in my yard under all the Christmas lights, and feel the grass between my toes.
Sooooo..... when are you coming for a visit? |

I lived by Seattle for three years. I remember one winter it rained for like 83 days straight. It rained so much it soaked up through my carpet in the living room so every time you walked on the floor your socks got wet.
I loved rain though, I still do.
So, in conclusion, quit being such a puss. |

I don't know how people in Seattle deal with it but at least it hasn't been snowing for the last 8 hours |

About 600 miles east of you it's 50 degrees. But I know of a warm front that would help with your misery. There's also the possibility of a sudden deluge if you hurry. |

We don't. Because we don't live in Southern California. We rarely get heavy continuous rain - we tend to get a light misty rain. And we actually have over 200 clear days per year. Seattle isn't even in the top forty rainiest places in the States - nor is ANY city in Washington. Fall and winter are gray and drizzly but Spring and Summer here are incredible. We often have drought conditions in the summer. We also have what you don't have - clear, breatheable air. I don't know how you can stand to live somewhere with as much air pollution as California has.
Thanks for perpetuating the rumor that it "always rains" here, though. I've heard it said that we allow that to keep less Californians from moving up here :) They complain a lot.
Right now we're actually having the coldest weather in 18 years. It's 24 degrees out with 5" of snow on the ground where I live 15 mins North of Seattle. We're supposed to get more snow tomorrow night as well as the weekend, too.
PS: Grunge was back in the 90's. It's 2008 in case you hadn't noticed. |

It is a very dry rain in Seattle. It evaporates before it hits the ground. |

The suicide rate is high and 36 " of rain fall on average. Most days are cloudy. These lead to depression. Maybe that's why everyone drinks a lot of coffee there.
In Summer and Fall you have droughts and fires. This is the rainy season in CA. Get ready for floods and mudslides soon.
It's 11F degrees here in Chgo. right now...think about that. It should make you happy. I haven't worn shorts or sandals in a long time |

I have long had a theory that you people in California have done something to make God angry. You have earthquakes, mud slides, tidal waves, and way too many vegetarians. It will surely slide into the ocean someday in punishment for your wanton ways out there. As for the people in Seattle, He's angry at them too. Hence all the rain, depression, and caffeine junkies. I think they deal with it by either committing suicide or joining a grunge band. And drugs. |

I think the rain we get in Seattle is not always downpour. We get a light drizzle and we are so used to it that we don't even notice.
However, doesn't this rainy cold weather make you want to drink coffee, hang out in a coffee house and just read good books by a fire and just chill- -- there you go --- that is the Seattle attitude. |

Speaking from firsthand experience. The folks in Seattle deal with the rain with the use of strategically placed umbrellas |

Is that what that sky water stuff is called? Rain? I was confused and worried when I first saw it this morning. I called the government, but apparently, they're powerless to stop it. |
