yes and no

I was in the Army and I loved it. If you like exercise then you will love it.

Paul G
yes and no I like that answer hahaha
I can add to that!

yes - if you fel a strong pull to help your country and also it is for 2 to 4 years and when you get out providing you are one of the lucky ones you will have very good rep. to get any job you want as well as getting paid from the army when you turn age 65

no - if you are only useing this as a dodge to get away from a problem that you created like detroy two lives like getting a girl pregnant and then skipping if that is the case.

well that is about it. Joining the army. Am I crazy? (in joking ~yes?~ ) but really I wish you luck in what ever you do

No.! Im only 12 and a girl and i want to join the army...my dad was in the army and he said hed let me join when im 17. So surely he wouldnt want me to do something that could cause harm. If its what you want to do go for your goals. And you dont always get sent to war. My dad was sent to operation desert storm and he is still letting me join! SOOO...if thats what you want to do go for it.!

no, not crazy. You'd probably have been drafted soon anyway, once the big war breaks out between Iran, North Korea, and U.S.
Might as well get a little experience under your belt.

No - I think it is totally respectable that you are choosing to defend your country - there are so many people questioning everything these days and it almost sickens me that they hate America so much - I wonder why they stay. Everyone wants to believe in something but half of these people adopt this radical liberalist attitude based on no world education - just because they think it is "cool".
You - on the other hand are making a committment to something that you believe in - willing to risk your life if need be ti fight for something that you believe in, to defend this country. I feel we have all of these rights that so many other countries don't have and that so many people in this nation are abusing them and misusing them - just for attention - just for drama. They forget there is no draft in effect. They forget that all of these men and women signed up to defend their country - to defend those rights and to be proud, repectable and self-respecting human beings - the kind that deserve these rights that we are so lucky to have.
My prayers go out to you that your experience in the Army is a safe one - it is people like you who gave us these rights and fight for them and fight for the country that we call home. You are far from crazy - you are awesome! Good luck and thank you so much!

All these ingrates that said this about Bush or no it's not crazy it's stupid are just sitting on their asses abusing the rights this country has worked so hard to give us - this country is trying the best they can and we are fighting this was for a reason - did we all forget - do we really all believe that we are fighting for no reason - fighting just to kill people? Are you all insane!!?! Are you all brainwashed by this wave of BS crossing the nation - be an individual - get educated and show some respect for the people who live and die for this country and your rights - unbeliveable.

I don't think so. The pay & benefits aren't too bad, it's a guaranteed job (if you can hack boot camp), and you can get to see alittle of the world on someone elses dime. As for where you might end up...-well, your roll of the dice is as good as anyone elses. - So don't let anyone tell you you're crazy.

jbean
we're all crazy. let me know how it is.

Well if you have absolutely nothing better to do with your life and you feel that you would rather be taken care of and controlled by someone else (Which is fine for some people) then by all means join.

Personally I would not join ever, I could not bear to give up my freedom of thought and control over my own destiny. But that's just me. Go get a job at COSTCO, from what I saw on TV today it's a nice place to work.

krYpToNitEsMoM
hmmm.. well yes you are joining the army might sound crazy because it is sooo very dangerous "over there" and no you aren't crazy because you are protecting "Me" while over h ere IN the US of A".

You have to understand that I am a WTC survivor and individuals such as yourself are my heroes for being sooo selfless and doing something great for me and my country.

I do however believe that you are going to put yourself into a very very dangerous position. Why are you joining? But in the same token I truly thank someone like you that is going to fight for our freedom by supporting the USA!!!

Whatever you decide to do!! Stay Safe Always!!!God Bless and God Speed!!!

emac4lyf
1st know if your fighting for the right cause..

Would you fight for BUSH?

When you get injured, Do you think they still care about you? Have you seen other US Veterans? There were so many soldiers in the past that some of them were forgotten.

I'm telling you.. I would join the army with you!! If we are fighting for the right cause!!

Check out the circumstances.. Lets say you join the army.. Your superior told you to kill innocent civilians. What would you do? Are you ready to kill innocent people? You have to follow orders!! If you decide to go AWOL.. Can you believe going AWOL is a crime.. You were brave enough to join the army in the 1st place. Then if you decided to quit, you will get arrested or court marshalled..

That is unbelievable!!

jata2001
Crazy? No. But I hope you are fully aware of all it will entail. Being in the miltary means the US government owns you and will send you where they want and have you do whatever they want, no matter what you signed up for. You might have been told about getting money for college and an enlistment bonus. That's all well and good, but in exchange you literally give them your life. You might feel jazzed about the possibility of going to Iraq or Afganistan. I know three family members who have been there, and one is in the Army and presently on his second tour. It's difficult, stressful, and you may not be the same when you return. Being in the Army means there is a pretty good chance that you may end up there and you may be faced with having to protect your life or your buddy's by killing someone. Can you live with that? I hope you chose an MOS that will transfer well in the civilian world, unless you wish to be a cop or security guard when you get out.
So, no you're not crazy. But I hope that when you signed your name on the dotted line you were smart and well informed. the worst people to tell you about the Army are recruiters. They are nothing more than salesmen in BDUs.

mrkwooley
NO! As a vet let me tell you what you'll get from the military - that no one else can give you. Self-discipline, self-determination, independence, confidence, a solid work ethic, and a love of your country. Did I enjoy being in the military...not always (how much fun can you have sitting in a sheep field in Germany, at 2 am, in February.) But on the other hand, I got to experience things that none of my peers ever did (drinking ouzo in Crete, with a couple of Greeks I'd met 10 minutes earlier.)

The most common response you'll get here will probably you're nuts, President Bush will get you killed. To a degree that's true, but you could be killed by a bus tomorrow, so which is more dangerous crossing the street, or defending your country? I bet if we checked the statistics, we'd find that far more people were killed in traffic accidents than in Iraq.

So should you join the military? This is what my father (also a vet) told me when I got out. I wouldn't do it again for a million dollars, but you couldn't pay me a million dollars for the memories.

I'd still say GO! Protect these free-speech loving people on Yahoo Answers from terrorists and nations who would love to abolish this kind of freedom. God Bless

PS: If your drill seargent asks if you can drive, don't say anything. He'll probably ask you to drive a mop bucket.

Know that when you sign that paper you become their property. And you will know what THAT means.

Some people have to experience it for themselves but.. Honest to god not for lack of trying I didn't get in myself. Most of the my friends did a few in the air force etc and more then 9 of them hate their job and cant wait to get out.

the only person that has of yet to air any discontent in the army was someone i haven't spoken to in a few years hes alright and his parents say hes ok and rather likes it. But its not an easy decision at all.

Almost impossible if you have any doubts.. if you don't like the idea of being property and being treated as an asset.. ordered to take pills shots.. do things.. etc.. well.. you'll probably wash out.

Which isn't bad just means.. you.. don't.
