Kwame Kilpatrick is the biggest dirt bag mayor, ever. Why do people in Detroit still want him back?

Repeatedly I hear people saying things similar to what many are saying in response to this question. Such as, Detroiters like voting for thugs/criminals and a city of criminals want criminals to lead them. Well, I live in Detroit and I am not a criminal neither do I like voting for criminals. These racist people talk about African Americans as if they are criminals, while in reality such hatred is the cause of a large number of the crimes that occur. Yet African Americans are the destructive ones. I bet if these individual could round up all the African Americans and do away with them in an instance they would without thinking twice. These individuals are the perfect example of why Detroiters keep re-electing Kilpatrick, they are afraid of getting stuck with a racist individual such as the ones we see posting these racist comments or even worst an Uncle Tom.

He's scum, has always been scum, and always will be scum. First he steals taxpayer money to buy shiny new Navigators for his family, then he covers up the murder of a stripper leaving his house, now he's been busted lying on the stand. His new spin, he's saying this issue was a long time ago and he and his wife worked it out, whooptie dooo! I didn't know his wife had the ability to grant immunity. To help cover up his infidelity he fired reputable and moral detectives, something which, let's face it, Detroit probably needs more than any other major city in the nation. On his watch Detroit has done nothing but further degrade into the laughable toilet it is today. Why do detroiters want him back, do I need to say it? OK, he's Black, there I said it. I'm not racist I just can't see a real reason this scumbag keeps getting re-elected. The only other thing I can think of is that a city of criminals wants criminals to lead them. Detroit's even a bigger laughing stock today, thanks to Mr. Kilpatrick, and this time he can't dance his way around the facts. Detroit's dying, there's no denying it. Anyone who makes money in Detroit doesn't live there, and for good reason.

ADDED: TheChosenOne, I'm sure he is your "homie", and yeah I think he does a lot "for the hood", from his past indiscretions I'm sure he regularly hands out most of his check there. But he still drives his Navigator right back to his gated community doesn't he?

I read a political analysts view on this most recent mayoral scandal. The point was that this is the end of Kilpatricks reign in Detroit. It is too bad that he has let his personal life get so wrapped up in his proffesional life. He has started to mature as a mayor, and now with the city paid vacations, navigator purchases, hooker killing, and $8 million paid in lawsuits to CITY Workers. The worst is that just 4 months ago he swore he did not have a sexual relationship with his chief of staff.

He is:

A crook
An Adulterer
A Thief
Morally Absent
And worst of all he is a liar

I hope the rest of my neighbors have the moral compass not to vote for this larger than life crook again.

I really don't care who is sleeping with who, just as I did not care with whom Bill Clinton was getting it on with. They all do it, some just don't get caught. As long as they are doing their job that is all that matters.

The problems with Detroit runs deeper than just who is mayor. Must of the problems with Detroit are due to decisions by the city counsel. Everything must go through them first and they are terrible. I think they all need to be thrown out. Colman A. Young was the worst mayor there ever was. Mayor Dennis Archer would have been great for the city of Detroit, but again he couldn't get anywhere with the city counsel.

Until the city counsel members are gone nothing will change in the city of Detroit. Sure the downtown area might grow, but the surrounding areas will suffer. They do not care, there is not money in those areas. Detroit and Michigan as a whole have a long ways to go to recovery. I hope I'm here to see it.

I can't stand that goon. Now, they've found his shady behind lied under oath, and sent 14,000 text messages to some chick on his staff professing his love all while he was married. The stripper murder party should have been an indicator he was nothing more than a thug in a suit. I don't live in Detroit but I wish they would have picked Freman Hendrix. Duh!

Because he has done some good for the city. He has a people personality. Detroiters wanted a change and they just think he is the top dog. i personally do not care for him, never did and never will. I also do not live in the city, used to, but moved. Detroiters deserve better. Never elect a street person, no matter how smart to be mayor. This is what you get!!!

that sucks, I'm from Toledo, but we also get the Detroit stations in addition to our own, so I hear some of Detroit's news and thins of that nature. He doesn't sound that good.

It's just like here,but on a larger scale. We have a mayor who has had one thing or another so they elected a guy who was just as dumb but didn't talk, or do anything. Then the following election the re-elected the first guy back into office.

This is the guy who allowed his dog to go in the government building when no pets are allowed, but now only his is allowed, the problem is more of this attitude is I think I can do whatever I want, and that he is above everyone.

This is the same mayor who his first run at it, wanted to move the deaf by the airport since they can't hear, and wanted to paint the fire hydrants tourquoise.

I don't know if your problem is the same as ours, but everyone in our city just votes for the guy with the (D) next to his name, even if he isn't the best candidate, and Toledo is becoming a crap hole because of it. It sounds almost the same way with Detroit too.

Detroit has a reputation of voting in crooks..Kilpatrick is a thug! Scandel after scandel and Detroiters still love him ,I guess him being a thief and a lying thug is what makes him electable in Detroit..He keeps stealing our tax money..(navigator) and than the lawsuit where he was sued for 9 million for firing two police officers that were investigating him ! A white girl dancer was shot up and killed in front of his mansion as she was leaving it..he covered it up NO investigation those two cops investigated anyway ..they than got fired..
That guy just gets on my last nerve ..Detroit is worst than ever...according to FBI it's the most dangerous city in the US!!!
I can't wait till they remove him from office..oh wait Detroiters will riot over that!!

take a close look at him and Suge Knight, they are both thugs and want ta b's. I bet they are born from the same loins and have a common phrase- "LETS JUST SCREW EVERYONE WE CAN" ( personally and physically). could you imagine them in the same prison trying to be one up on the other. Kwame is just another thief that will be swept under the rug and won;t get the same treatment and penalty that a common person would. hell if we did 1/2 of what he has done we would be doin' some serious time.
It really is tooo bad that anything good that he does is trumped by his greed and wrong doing.

It's simple, because Detroiters enjoy electing corrupt politicians who are crooks and who are also a bunch of Lazy Incompetent And Reckless Sinners. Detroiters elected Coleman Young Five Times and he destroyed Detroit and elected Kilpatrick twice and he has destroyed Dennis Archer's legacy of Hard Work, Prosperity, and Success. If Detroit had an election tomorrow, Kilpatrick would still get re-elected because after all, Detroiters enjoy reelecting corrupt crooks who make lots of promises that they never keep.

Then it dawned on me, that his pool of voters aren't likely connected to the internet . . . either because they've never heard of it, or been disconnected because they didn't pay their "note".
