San Francisco by a long shot... it's a beautiful city with plenty to see. I recommend the docks and the seafood market. But there is so much more. The only downside is that it's fairly expensive even for a California city. LA on the other hand is just plain dirty, (go on the highway and you'll see what I mean). You can't see a few miles ahead of you on any day because of smog, I don't understand why everyone likes LA so much. The only real attraction of LA is Hollywood and Beverly Hills. But even there you are limited to what you can do. So go with San Francisco. LA is not much of a tourist destination. |

San Francisco. SO much more to do, so much more to see. LA is a lot more dangerous, and doesn't really have much to do except go see celebrities and maybe visit Disneyland or go shopping. San Francisco you can walk along the pier, go to the Exploratorium, see tons of museums, there are tons of concerts and a huge music scene, the food is wayyyy better, you can visit alcatraz, see the lighthouse in Sausalito, watch bums be crazy. LA doesn't have as many cool things as San Francisco, plus SF is a lot safer. Just don't make eye contact with the bums and you'll be safe. :) |

if you want warm weather and are only going to SF, the city, it is going to be cool/cold. San Francisco is not very warm until September. It can be quite foggy and windy. The rest of the bay area will be nice and warm.
If you want the sun and beach type stuff, go to LA. |

Personally, whenever I go to L.A., I find the people there are really shallow. I would advise you to go to San Fran. It's awesome there! |

San Francisco!
I've been to LA several times, and I didn't enjoy it on any occasion. Terribly dirty air, awful drivers, ridiculous people, overpriced junk, and all the food has cilantro on it. Blagh.
San Fran, on the other hand, is beautiful, the weather is a lot better, and it's much, much more fun! :) |

San Francisco. Much more interesting terrain, street cars, the Bay, seafood. Los Angeles is dirty and crowded. |

If by yourself, I would say SF. If not...then...go to both. They are not that far away from each other! LA does get a bum wrap and I think that is because LA is more difficult to get around and sight see. It helps to know somebody from LA to get the wheels greased. |

i like san fran ive been there a couple of times but the thing with that city is that its city radius (around the city) is only seven miles, it practically very small. I live in LA and i love it. if i was from another place i would like to visit the city. To get your money's worth i would choose LA.
&&& obviously if you ask people from san fran they would pick their city over any other.
LA is not how people say it is. They probably talk because they havent been there or they lacked guidence. Its a wonderful city that has a lot to offer. Just picture the rush of the city followed by a chill relaxing mood. |
