Lebanon Tennessee? |
Can anyone tell me about this city? Please just factual answers. We are moving and I need to get information about the cities that are around Nashville. I have found a few places to rent that seem nice but I need to get information from people that live near, around or have visited there. |

Lebanon is a city in Wilson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 20,235 at the 2000 census. It serves as the county seat of Wilson County6. Lebanon is located in central Tennessee, east of Nashville. The Hermitage, the estate of former United States President Andrew Jackson, is located nearby.
Nashville Superspeedway is located outside of Lebanon.
Cracker Barrel was founded in Lebanon, and has its corporate headquarters based there.
Lebanon is home to Cumberland University, a small, private, 4-year liberal arts institution.
Lebanon is considered a banking center, and is home to the corporate headquarters of at least three regional banks. Most of the larger state and national banks have only a minimal presence in Lebanon.
Among Middle Tennesseans, Lebanon is pronounced "LEB-nun", as opposed to the general pronunciation "LEB-uh-non." |

We'll be neighbors! I live in the Donelson area, but was in Lebanon on Saturday! It's pretty rural, but Wilson Co borders Davidson (Nashville) so you're not too far out and away from everything. It's the county seat of Wilson Co so it's the biggest city. I went to school in Mt Juliet, which is also in Wilson Co. It's about 20 miles from Nashville. It's pretty quiet, but it's growing. Make sure you go eat at Demos' sometime! They have the best soup in the world! It's on 231 off the interstate at I-40. Welcome to the area!! |

I know for a fact that country singer Eddie Rabbitt is buried there--I drove to his grave from Cleveland, Ohio to pay my respects and spent a few days there looking around--a nice town! |

It's about 30 miles east of Nashville, on I-40. It is a relatively small city, not a lot of restaurants! It is surrounded by some very pretty hills/trees. Cedars Of Lebanon is a large state park on the outskirts and offers hiking, nature trails, horseback riding, camping, pool, and picnic facilities.
Not much shopping there- they had a really good outlet mall, but it has fallen on hard times the past couple of years. It does still have Polo, Coach, Jones NY & a few other big names.
The climate is nice-- 4 seasons, well-defined. In fall, the multitude of trees are beautiful.
Just for trivia, it is also the national headquarters of Cracker Barrel. |

Cracker Barrel started there. It is just east of Nashville, I believe. |

Lebanon is out from Nashville about 20 minutes. Its country living. They do have a real good public high school which is rare in Nashville.I do not know about the other schools. It is a nice quite town.Cumberland University is there.I always thought it woould be a nice place to live, but not alot to do.
I have lived in Nashville for about 17 years and Nashville is moving out that way. Mt Juliet Tn is right before you get to Lebanon and it is booming. Everyone is moving out that way. |

I would suggest Hendersonville, Tennessee as an alternative to Lebanon, Tennessee.
The school systems in Hendersonville are on par with private schools.
Contact our Chamber of Commerce for a school information packet. |

Murfreesboro. I LOVE it there, and I miss it! Stones River Battlefield and lots of historic sites. LOTS of restaurants (although Cracker Barrel is the best!!!). Plenty to do there and it's really close to Nashville. Lebanon is really nice too though, they have a good mall. I would be excited if I were you! |

I dont live there but from my experiences with moving to another city is this, call the chamber of commerce and ask them to send you a relocation package. This usually contains a lot information about the hospitals, population, places to work and all kinds of things. They are very useful!!! |

Lebanon TN is an up an coming suburb of Middle TN just outside of Nashville about 45 minutes. There is much building going on there, and until recently it has been very rural. It has a wonderful historic district, but also has some of Nashville's most popular outlet shops.
There is a great outlet mall there, with many other shopping centers (smaller). I know there is a new Home Depot, New Chili's Restaurant, several big name call dealerships ( I went shopping there recently and purchase my vehicle in Lebanon). Lots of growing.
I don't know it well enough to recommend the best spot to buy a home, but could recommend some Nashville Realtors you might contact for info on who you might talk with.
I think the answer about contacting the Chamber of Commerce is great advice.
Wikipedia has a bunch of information on Lebanon, and so does Google.
Good Luck with your move, and with my best southern hospitality by Internet. Welcome to Tennessee......
If you need an interior designer once you arrive, just let me know. I could travel. I can recommend a great furniture store there, they have 3 stores, but look for Smith's and ask for Becky, Tell her Shari sent you. |

Don't speed there. I got arrested for going 20 over the speed limit on the freeway. They actually take you to jail and make you post a bond if you go 20 mph over the posted speed limit. Took about three hours to get done with them. I got to ride in the front of a police car with no handcuffs. That was cool. |

It was nice when I lived and went to high school there...but I graduated from Lebanon High School in 1980. My wife still has family there and we've been back a couple of times since then. It sure is bigger these days, but still OK. It's got a town square, but I think the old men who used to sit on a bench there and whittle are gone, now. It's more suburban than rural these days (I have lived in a town in VA for the past 18 years with a population of 3,000...I know rural). It's convenient to N-ville if you want city-stuff and it's convenient to state parks (which are some of the most beautiful in the country, in my mind) when you want to get back to Nature. Try Fall Creek Falls State Park, only a couple of hours away. |

It is a growing city, It is a lovely town and just a few miles out is a country that is beautifully. I-40 runs through it and just a few miles from Nashville and about 30 mins away from Murfreesboro. Lebanon has great resturants, shopping areas. Murfreesboro is just a few miles away from Nashville as well and I-24 runs through it as well. This city is Really growing, I work there alot and it is a town growing full of schools and subdivisions. It has just about everything that can be thought of.
I hoped that I have helped, feel free to email for any questions that I might can help on. There are some other towns like Mt Juliet that is in the same County as Lebanon that is right off I-40 and is closer to Nashville, and Frankline is not to far either. The futher away from Nashville the cheaper the prices of homes in most cases. In general all the surrounding towns East and South of Nashville is great places to live. I can't say much about North and West of it, Don't work in those areas. |

Lebanon is not a bad place. It's not too city...but not too small town. You have probably about 3 malls in about 10-20 minutes driving. The airport is close by and you are probably dead center for a good commute to any company hiring.
Now the apartments in Lebanon I don't think there are that many to choose from....but there are plenty in the surrounding areas.
You have areas like Smyrna, Lavergne, Antioch, Hermitage, Madison, Rivergate....
Hope this is some help |

dont go to lebannon, its far, at least in my opinion. here's my suggestions in order of closest to city center to furthest.
-green hills: obviously if cheesecake factory, louis vuitton, and tiffany open their first store in tennessee in green hills it can't be bad. you have access to everything. its only minutes to downtown. near vanderbilt campus too. great residents and lots of great places to eat.
-brentwood/franklin: if you have kids, this is PERFECT. brentwood isn't as commercialized as franklin but its a great place to live. just keeping going further south on 1-65 and if you want to be near the best mall in tennessee, TONS of great restaurants, then franklin/cool springs is perfect for you. |
