Chicago - you get a great city with the mid-western charm. It is clean and pretty easy to know where is safe and where isn't. It also has some of the best restaurants you will find anywhere.

Chicago is mcuh better. Better teams, better sites, better attractions, better foods. All LA has is washed up movie stars.
Plus we have better, more exciting weather.

They're so different...I happen to think Chicago is the more livable city, because it's more walkable and less superficially focused than areas of LA. But Los Angeles certainly has charms, including nice weather and better scenery, that Chicago lacks.

Being from Chicago and an LA lover this would be a hard question to answer. It really depends on you and what you like to do.

I love LA for the beach and the people watching. Fashion shopping is great, and diversity is unlike any other! Nightlife is overrated, many people are fake or superficial. It is one of those cities that is very drug driven. Everyone wants them or uses them just about! THE BIGGEST THING I HAVE NOT HEARD ON HERE THAT REALLY EFFECTS ME IS THE 2AM LIQUOR SHUTDOWN! I absolutely hate it. If you are a night owl and like to party late this totally blows! Every place is done at 2am,

Many people knock Chicago for the weather. However, some of us actually like the seasons, the feel of snow especially at Christmas! The below zero temperatures and shoveling of the snow does get old but If you enjoy the fall, buying and wearing coats and scarves then it really isnt that bad. Chicago is diverse as well but does not have the number of international people such as LA. This effects people who speak multiple languages. Chicago nighlife is very underrated and some bars are open till 5am on Saturdays. Commuting is much simpler in Chicago.

Well, that all depends on personal preference. Both cities have pros and cons. Personally, I've been to both cities on several occasions, and I love both of them. If I had to choose 1, I would choose LA though.

Chicago:
Pros - good museums, architecture, culture, downtown is great, somewhat walkable, jobs are plentiful
Cons - weather is terrible, nightlife is average, traffic(but nowhere near as bas as LA),

Los Angeles:
Pros - weather is best in the country, great scenery, best nightlife in the country, jobs are plentiful, great restaurants, beautiful people, diverse population, did mention it never rains, people are surprisingly friendly, shopping
Cons - traffic is the worst I've ever seen, city isn't walkable, cost of living is crazy

Overall though, I'd rather be in LA, there's just something about the beach and the sunshine. Chicago is great, but I can't deal with the weather. The diversity in LA is great as well, and the nightlife speaks for itself. Chicago is more cultured than LA, but it lacks everything else that LA has to offer. Just depends on personal choice.

LA but Chicago is cool too. LA is not as superficial as you think, is worse in the oc.
