Magic Kingdom

MK has the rides a 10 year old might like, ranging from "Pirates of the Caribbean" (though the ride has a steep drop in the beginning) to "It's a Small World". He might be too old for things like Dumbo, but then again, adults still like those rides (I'm 24, and I still love "Peter Pan" and I miss "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride").

Epcot might be too boring for a 10 year old when he is going through the countries; he's too young to appreciate how each country is different and what each one has to offer. Plus, some of the rides there like "Test Track" and "Mission: Space" are too fast or rough for someone that young.

I would go with Magic Kingdom. Have fun!

If you are only going for a day then definitely Magic Kingdom. If you have more time, I would suggest in order: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal kingdom and Hollywood Studios. (Ignoring Universal & Sea World only because you specified Disney)

Magic kingdom is more for kids, epcot is more sciencey (technology, land stuff, sea stuff, worlds in the back etc.) so it all depends on what he's into... If you have a park hopper i don't see why you couldn't do both.

MK has mickey's toon town, space mt, big thunder railroad, haunted mansion, pirates, etc.

Epcot has test track, living sea, mission space, etc.

Magic Kingdom for a 10 year old.
Epcot for me!

Epcot! It's amazing!

Magic Kingdom would be perfect for your son!

Personally, I feel like Epcot tends to be for an older crowd and those that are really into science and technology. This is due to the theming of their attractions and the drinking around the world.

I am 23 years old and I still have a better time at Magic Kingdom any day! It has tons of options for your son. Whether he likes space and alieans (Buzz Lightyear, Adventures with Stitch, The Laugh Floor), Fantasy (Peter Pan, Snow White, Philarmagic), Adventure (Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean, the Jungle Cruise), and more! There is something for him! Plus, the shows, character greetings, and firework displays take Magic Kingdom to a whole new level with Disney. So, I would definitely do Magic Kingdom! It is so fun to do with kids! He will remember it forever!

both parks are phenominal. i would go to both but if you must choose one i'd say the magic kingdom.. because it's so.. well, magical! epcot is more for the mature crowd. magic kingdom is pure disney. in epcot is you really are taking a tour of the world and it's really more for adults. they do have a few amazing rides like Soarin, Test Track, Spaceship Earth, and Mission Space.. otherwise it's just sight seeing. something i love about epcot is you buy a disney "passport" and for every country in the world showcase that you visit, you get your passport stamped and a disney cast member from that country writes a personalized message for you in the passport. it's really neat. i love, love, love epcot. but if i had a choice i'd go to magic kingdom. it's more fun, more disney, and better for kids. theres tons of rides and attractions, amazing parades and fireworks, tons of characters to meet, and it's just magical.

have fun on your trip!

Magic Kingdom with the exception of a few rides at Epcot he's probably find it boring.

def. magic kingdom...
he will enjoy this park so much better than epcot.. go to disneyworld.com to look at the rides

Magic Kingdom! I've heard Epcot is more for older people.

I've been in the Magic Kingdom park, 4 times in total and had a blast every single time. It's the heart of the Disney parks practically.

Let him go on the disney web site. They will show rides, attractions and entertainment for all four parks. You could research it together and choose.

Unless your son is that very rare 10 year old who enjoys the shopping/dining district more than haunted houses and jungle cruises, then choose Magic Kingdom.

sha_lyn68
It really depends on your son. On our first trip my son was 10 (1 month before 11 birthday) and his favorite parks in order were
Disney Hollywood Studios
Epcot
Magic Kingdom
Animal Kingdom

ETA: the below answer says that Test Track is too rough for a 10 yr old. It is not. My daughter has been riding it since she was 4.

Oh, I hope you can do both. I guess Disney since he's still young. I love Epcot but its more grown up with no kiddie stuff.
