Dearborn has a HUGE Muslim population if that is what you are referring to. I believe it is the biggest in the U.S.

Actually, we refer to the areas from Ohio to colorado and regions in those area northern and southern from there the Mid-West. We do not say Mid-East because that usually refers to the arabic countries and parts in western asian and western europe.

Pennsylvania and over is usually the east coast, while Nevada to California is the west coast.

Technicially though, Michigan is pretty much in the middle of the country, but obviously up north.

Hope this helps.

no south east

They do have a large arab population...

Michigan is considered mid-west. Don't ask me why considering Arizona, Utah and Idaho are ACTUALLY physically in the 'mid-west ' of this country! Physically speaking, you are correct but considering all that is happening in the mid-east today, I wouldn't be too proud to try and justify that term in the U.S.

mk
Actually, no Michigan is not the middle east, people consider Saudi Arabia and other countries surrounding it the Middle East.

LoL thanks Mishy for keeping the FBI on me...i am no different than u are, so what if i am living in dearborn...and yes Michigan is nicknamed the second middle east...that is because dearborn has 30000 arab population which is the second largest in the US after New York city which has abt 70000 arab population....however Dearborn Michigan has the largest concentration of arab population outside middle east...which earn it its nickname, "middle east" of michigan or "middle east" of the United States. the enviroment in dearborn is very similar to that of a middle eastern country...the billboards, signs on stores and names of countless mousques are all written in arabic...a very kool and unique place to visit...one of my white american friend grew up in dearborn next to arabs and muslim people...and now he speaks the most perfect arabic with arabic shopkeepers....

Mishy
I would hope the FBI has their eye on Dearborn...

More Middle Eastern people in the Detroit area than anywhere outside the Middle East I am told. BTW why don't we call it the Near East anymore?
