Some great stuff in Vegas:
The fountains in front of the Bellagio (free)
The buffet at the Wynn (not cheap)
The show "Le Reve" at the Wynn (expensive!)
Single-deck blackjack at the El Cortez downtown (nice low limits)
The Casbar Lounge at the Sahara (live music, just buy drinks)
The lions at the MGM (free)
The Star Trek Experience at the Hilton (expensive)
Your Hotel Pool (free) |

There is an awesome shark exhibit at Mandalay Bay! Also, please go to the Aladin Hotel, there is a La Salsa cantina with the BEST drink...it's called a Latin Love. It's huge, but it's so good! Circus, Circus is pretty fun, but more for the kids. The Cirque De Soliel show is awesome! Hope this helps :) |

That's funny; we are actually going to be in Vegas at the same time on our fourth trip out there. My husband thinks that I have serious control issues because I have an hour by hour schedule for each day that we are there with a break down of all estimated cost of each meal, souviner and attraction/show we are seeing. (sad but true)
Anyhoo, back to you, my first suggestion is that you go to one of my favorite sights http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/index.cfm and look around. In addition to a lot of other information, they have forums that are really informative (and sometimes funny), all the buffet prices for each hotel and a list of attractions. My second hot spot is http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g45963-i10-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html. I love to read other people's trip reports and to hear about what worked for them and what didn't.
Because everyone is different, it's hard to tell you what to do; I find that when I go to Vegas with a group that everyone tends to want to do different things so it's not that easy to say what you should do while you are there (other than make sure that you eat at the Paris Buffet, see the Belagio fountains at least once, take at least a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon and go to see the Wynn Las Vegas.)
Another website you might want to check out (especially before you reserve a room is http://cheapovegas.com/index.php. I found this website very amusing and accurate.
And just in case you aren't independently wealthy, here are a few websites that track all of the Vegas rate specials:
http://www.casinotripreports.com/vegas/
http://www.fatwallet.com/t/63/704925/
http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=13
Also, since you are there for a week, you might want to split your time there between two hotels. We stayed a week last year and even though I LOVE Vegas, I was very happy to go home. We stayed in two different hotels, and it helped a lot.
I hope this helps |

Day 1: Arrive at your hotel, get your bearings at your hotel because if you are in one of the Strip big hotels you will need a day there to get the lay of the land. Tackle gambling at your hotel and try it's buffet or one of it's higher end restaurants.
Day 2: Venture out of your own hotel to explore the strip. It will be July so it will be crazy hot. You can check out the hotels in the immediate neighborhood (the hotels/casinos and their next door neighbors on either side of the home base casino you have selected.) The strip hotels have lots to check out so this will be a good way to spend a day eating lunch at one, shopping at another, gambling for a while at another or all! Dinner at a restaurant that entices you and maybe a fabulous show in the same hotel.
Day 3: Go to the upper strip and work your way back down. Stratosphere is fun for the view as well as the "rides" on top that they offer. Maybe do this earlier in the day before the sun gets too brutal.
Day 4 time to get out of town. Go rent a fun car from Dream Car Rentals on the strip. Go explore Red Rock Canyon and if you have time go check out the Hoover dam. Gamble the night away.
Day 5 / or Anniversary day. Bellagio day. Dump your double date vacation pair and spend the day together. I believe this hotel itself is worthy of a day and night of your trip. Spend the prelunch hour or two perusing the fabulous Conservatory gardens and checking out the fabulous chandelier in the hotel lobby. Lunch at Olives and enjoy the fountain view. Afternoon maybe chill in their Spa. Head back to your hotel and prep for a night of dining and a show Bellagio style. Dine preshow at Prime the steakhouse of the Bellagio. If you book reservations a couple of weeks in advance you might score a fountain view table. This is a meal that you can spend $200-$300 on. It is your first anniversary so it will be worth it. After dinner you must see "O" at the Bellagio by Cirque du Soleil. The show is fantastic w/ athleticism mixed w/ artsy interpretation. A must see for any vegas trip.
Day 6 see the rest of the vegas hotels on the strip that haven't been visited yet. It is the last day there so live it up and see all that you can.
Have fun. I wish I could go to Vegas for a week. |

Wow...a whole week, huh? Well, let's hope you like to gamble, hang out at the pool, and see shows. Other than that, the only thing to do is see Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. Vegas isn't known for any tourist hotspots other than "The Strip".
I spent 5 long days there, and found myself on the verge of boredom. |

It's fun just to walk the strip and site-see. There are so many things to see you can't do it all in one day. the Casino/Hotels are fabulous. And there are a lot of free shows during the day. Then there are the great shows at night. Be sure to book the evening shows you choose ahead of time. Call the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce for a list of shows and how to book them. Or the Casino/Hotel where you plan on staying may be able to help you. Some times they offer discount prices. Even if you don't make an evening show, the site-seeing is an unforgettable experience. Have fun, enjoy and good luck! I hope you hit a jack pot!! |

You can always catch a show. Plus they have a great outlet that you can shop at. There are also a lot of clubs that you can go to. Why don't you go to www.lasvegas.com and see what they have available? You can even visit the Grand Canyon, But that's only good if you're from somewhere like the east coast and you're rarely out this way.... Either way, there are a lot of things that you can do. |

check out the hotels. Vegas is amazing you can go from Paris to Egypt to Hollywood to new york to Venice all in the matter of blocks. a really awesome place to eat is called the buccaneer bay (call for reservations) in the ti its cool because you can watch the pirate show from the restaurant. another great place to eat, if ur not from the west coast, is a burger place called in n out the best burgers i have ever had!!! its right off the strip and would be ideal for a quick lunch if you have a nice dinner planned for later that night. also join players club they give you coupon books that can come in real handy and they dont cost anything. websites to check out are vegas.com visitlasvegas.com(request the free guide book online) and google las vegas hotel reviews to see if anything peaks your interest. |

There is so much to do its almost scary! Vegas is sensory overload, so planning at least alittle bit before you get there is a good idea. Check out www.cheapovegas.com. They are a great resource for things to do, both expensive and free, and have listings of unadvertized food specials in alot of the restaurants, show reviews, etc. If you do want to see a particular show, try booking for it before you go on vacation, the popular shows are often booked up on short notice. |

You might want to rent a car, after the first day walking the strip our feet where killing us. We tried the bus but spent so much time waiting. If I go back, I will rent a car online, when we rented one for a day to go to Hoover Dam we had trouble finding one and it was $60 or so for a day for an economy car. Also, if you have crocs take them! I left mine at home because I took my comfortable tennis shoes and my feet hurt the whole time. |

I will be there too- go to Hoover Damn, walk the streets and look at the lights, get tickets to plays like, Knights of the Round Table- it is a dinner theater- you eat with your hands at the Excalibur. If you get invited to sit thru a presentation for a time share - that will take up time and you also get a free weekend or something at the end of the presentation- and free food. |
