My husband and I are planning a vacation...?

this will be the first vacation with our son, who will be 1 in May. We are planning it for the last week of April, so he will be 11 months. What kind of vacation will be best with an 11 month old? After trying to plan last night, we almost think its not even worth it to go. The beach would be out of the question, bc he could only be out so long. We were thinking the mountains, but any kind of hiking would be out. Any suggestions? We will def bring him no matter what. Leaving him with relatives is not an option.

fer sure disney land, he'l remember that for a long time i kno i did. Or hawaii i know u said no beaches but hawais a place where the beach is 50 steps outside your hotel room. their are also the pools where you guys can hangout. And is a short distance from your room. Hawaii provides a good envirment for a trip like that.

San Francisco
_____________
San Francisco Spring: March-May
March, April and May are some of the most inviting months to visit San Francisco. Characteristically cloudless and mild, some of the warmest and driest days of the year occur in San Francisco's spring months, making San Francisco's springtime noticeably free from the spring showers that moisten other parts of the United States.

P.s bring a stroller and a baby carrier (Either a front carrier or back..which ever your baby prefers to be carried in.) (carrier= You know they are like a back pack that holds your baby to free your arms and you dont have to push them in the stroller if you wish) (Helps when your on the hills, shopping or eating)

Why don't you go to British Columbia? It's so beautiful there. You have the mountains and a lot of sight-seeing...and not necessarily hiking. You can take a trans up the mountain and walk in the clouds. Then you can easily drive to Oregon and see Crater Lake. The drive is gorgeous!
There are a lot of things to do and see without the worries or hiking too much. But even if you do any kind of hiking, it's not difficult to bring a little one along...very easy to use a stroller for many of the sites.
And even for an 11 month old, he'll find it fun. The air is fresh and the surroundings are so beautiful.

There's no reason you can't go to the beach. I've been to the beach many times and seen families with big umbrellas or tents that the little ones stay under / in while the parents are lounging.

I see that other people suggest Disney World, but I totallydisagree. First, your child won't even remember the trip. Second, you have to push him around in a stroller all day. Third, he can't really ride much, so if there's something you & your husband want to ride, one of you will have to wait with your son. It just doesn't seem worth it.

A cruise? The waves may be soothing to your tot...

You'll be surprised how many people take their babies to the ocean. Use plenty of sunscreen and take an umbrella along, or rent one while there.

You can even get a child's carrier/harness to carry him around in so the mountains are still a possibility.

Plan you vacation and take him along. Don't try to cater your vacation toward him.

I am glad you asked this as I am trying to plan a vacation in September including my son who will be 11 months at that time. I am considering Disney World because you can stay on site and take the comp. buses everywhere. What I worried about is if the baby started crying in the middle of the night would they ask us to leave? So I am thinking there is no place more kid friendly that Disney World.... good luck!

dont bring the kid! he isnt old enough to enjoy or appreciate. enjoy some peaceful time away with your hubby - you probably dont get much peace if he is 11 months!

if its not an option at all, go to the sandals beaches resort...its totally kid friendly and you dont have to go to the beach - there are pools and plenty of activities. maybe a family cruise...mountains with a kid plus all the stuff you have to lug around is not a vacation at all, more of a hassle. i would say disney but he may be too young for that and its expensive when the kid wont remember it. best of luck.

How about going to visit the relatives. I understand that you can't/won't leave him with them but that doesn't mean you can't be there too.
You can almost do anything you would without the child just in smaller doses.
Mostly though, I think it depends on your child's demeanor. Maybe visit a place that has more tourist attractions along with the outdoors things. Any baby can only be out so long. Having a little time on the beach is good for all of you. Or, consider taking shorter hikes than you would normally. One thing for certain is that it's not going to be exactly the same. Where ever you go. you really don't want to overstimulate your son and have him crabby. That would include visiting a relative, being on the beach, or going to the mountains.

No Matter what you do, an 11 month old will definitely effect your options. My wife and I took small vacations for the first 5 years or so. We would rent a cabin in the woods where we could put them in for a nap and still be outside. But close enough to hear them. the beach would be similar as long as you could stay close enough to the room and still be outside enjoying yourself. (1 floor cottage for example) By doing this we were able to take bigger vacations (more money) when they got older. My kids barely remember anything about vacations they had before they were around 6 years old. so taking an 11 month old to disney will just be a headache. They may even be scared of the large characters at that age as well. Not to mention you won't be able to do about 1/2 of the things they have.

Go to Dollywood, TN or an amusement park near you. Kids that age love all the sights and sounds. Most have a "kiddie ride section" that you could ride the rides with your little one. We took our son when he was 13 months and we had a blast. Have Fun !

Many are suggesting Disney, and like another poster I disagree with bringing him there. My cousin brought her 1 year old there and they are too young to remember and you have to push them around all day and they get cranky and at that point are scared of the character.

I don't see why you can't take him to the beach. I see plenty of people doing this. Bring along an umbrella and even a tent (I've seen couples do this) so that he can hang out inside too.

Try going on vacation someplace local. I don't know where you are located, but how about someplace in the Carolinas or even Niagara Falls would be nice.

The only suggestion I have is to not have all of your time blocked out and planned. Try to keep a flexible schedule. The mountains would be nice. You could have a cabin with a view. If you go to the Smokies you could spend a day at DollyWood and ride rides or see a show. There are some shorter hikes that are paved that you could go on and possible take a stroller.
Whatever you do I am sure that you will have a good time.

British Gentleman
Probably best not to go.

Why not try a holiday in your own country? ... whatever that is lol.

Could spend a week in a nice cottage in the country if you live in a big city or w/e

Thats a tough one!

I like the mountains idea though. Not sure where you live but here in Canada there are many gorgous mountain resorts where you can rent a cabin. Nothing quite like relaxing by a fire, and then heading outside for a sleigh ride. The little one might enjoy a sleigh ride. Just bundle him up :)

If you ever have the chance I highly reccomend
