Non-americans: Would you ever consider living in the USA?

So many deluded Americans have been brainwashed to think that everyone from outside the USA would want to live there if they could. So my question is, if you had the chance to live in America, or if you had to move their for work, would you?

I don't think I'd be able to stand it. The trashy television, the biased media, the obnoxious citizens, the corrupt government. All would make it unbearable.

Deluded, huh? Interesting because the United States has literally MILLIONS of immigrants and visitors every year. Hell, many hundreds of thousands every year risk their life and incarceration in jails to come to the United States.

I realize you are a foreigner and probably not very educated, but it is fairly well known that the United States has a huge problem with illegal immigration. Please read a newspaper.

Thank you!

Europe's TV is much much trashier than ours.

Of course, I have lived in the US. We have a place in California that we visit almost every year. I think you really need to experience it before you judge it.

I'm glad to hear you say those things because we don't want you here. It's funny how foreigners just keep pouring into the US all the time, at the same time losers like you bemoan the greatest way of life in the world.
Television can be trashy because some like it like that. You can turn it off. I have over 500 channels coming to my home and most are selections like The History Channel, Discovery, The Learning Channel, Biography, etc. We only export our crap because that is all foreigners want.
While some corruption certainly exists in our government I feel very safe in saying we have the least corrupt government in the world. The French and Russians making secret oil field deals with Saddam, The Mexican government funneling almost all of the budget of their country to the druglords and the people who protect them and then sending their people to America to find work because their evil politicians stifle any kind of economic growth.
The media is biased but here is the rub. All of the liberals feel it is biased towards the conservatives and they can make a case. All of the conservatives feel that it is biased towards the liberals, and they can make a case. At least media bias is allowed on any front. Try watching Al Jazeer once in while, or paying attention to any media outlet in most of the third world. The bias is extreme and only swings one way. At least here we are fee to be as biased as we want and readers have many alternatives to choose from.
America has lots of problems and is still by far the only country in the world worth living in and dying for. Please do not come!

So don't move here! That will make 350 million Americans happy.
Where have you been living , under a rock? If you do any reading you'll find that millions of people from all over the world are trying to move to the U.S. Ever hear or read about the 1 million Mexicans sneaking across the border to come here? Many putting their lives on the line crossing the deserts.
GEE, it must be a horrible country if so many people want to come here. You forgot to mention what WONDERFUL country you live in. Getting any foreign aid from the U.S.? Send it back!

I'm not American, but I lived there for a decade and loved every minute of it.

Your post only proves your ignorance, since you're criticizing a whole country without ever having experienced what it means to live there. I can tell you that Americans aren't half as obnoxious as many Europeans, there government is only as corrupt as any other in Western culture, and nobody is forcing you to watch "trashy" TV.

America is a great country because of the fact that morons like you don't live there.

Well, I've been offered jobs in the US in the past that I've turned down. If I was offered an ideal job now, I'd go.

There are real differances between the US and Canada (where I live now). Some I see as good, others bad.

I'd appreciate the fact that the tax system is far more sympathetic to single income families (my wife chooses to stay at home to raise our children).

I'd appreciate the more open labour market. My experience has been that in the US its easier to hire and fire people. The benefit of this is that companies are far more willing to give opportunities to people who look like they have potential, but don't have the experience. There are a lot of fields in Canada where you practically have to go the US, get experience, then move back and get a job in Canada.

I'd miss the health care system in canada - flawed though it may be. I'd miss the level of multiculturalism we have in Toronto that few other cities in the world can match. I'd miss the Leafs. I still think in many ways Canada is a better place to raise children than the US.

I'd like to live there

Deluted?

Am I deluted when I see pictures of Cubans floating on top of cars they've pushed into the Caribean (braving shark attacks I might add) in hopes that they will end up on a beach in South Florida?

Am I deluted when I see reports of the MILLIONS of Mexicans who brave cold nights, harsh deserts and border patrols just to try to make it into our southern border?

And you call OUR government corrupt? Hey, I'm not saying we're perfect but compared to 99% of all the countries out there I'd say our nation's governement is doing a pretty good job!

And where are YOU from?

Wow.... you don't get this much attention for just nothing. You don't ever hear about Yemen, or Djibouti. Why not? Because they are little, and insignificant. The strongest, and most powerful country in the world is naturally going to get all the attention. Who could that be? The USA! Wow thanks guys! And please: Don't move here by all means, were getting a little crowded without y'all.

Oh yeah, as for the TV thing: what is the deal with "Keeping up Appearances", and "Are you being Served"? They suck!

I would move to the united states only if i was offered a job i couldnt turn down... its not that i hate the U.S. its just i dont see eye to eye with the majority of the social ideas within the US government.

Sure...I am Canadian and I love Canada, I own land in the hills of northern Washington just a few minutes south of the Canadian border, it is very refreshing to leave the pseudo-intellectual-urban types of Osoyos or Nelson BC and be around real folks who drive old pick-up trucks. I hope one day to retire there, build a small cabin, it is beautiful, remote and people are very friendly. But I would never move to any big city whether in Canada or the US, I like small-town America the best. Obnoxious citizens? I never had any bad experience with Americans, most of whom I found friendly and critical. Yes TV is thrashy, same as in Europe, Asia and the rest of the world, we also have our share, just use the remote and watch PBS. Corrupt government? yes, I agree with you, but it is up to all of us to initiate change in our daily actions and reflexions.
