Not yet, for now, a drivers licence and Birth Certificate will do the trick.
They've had alot of issues implementing the passport laws between the US and Canada & the US and Mexico and they keep on pushing back the date for implementation. I crossed to and from Mexico last month and Birth Certificate and Drivers Lisence was fine 3 consecutive days, no questions asked.
Anyways like really, what are they gonna do? tell you you can't go home. |

You need either your passport or a government issued photo ID AND a copy of your birth certificate. |

Absolutely. It's federal law. They won't let you out of the country, especially if you are an American citizen. Anytime you leave the country, you will need a passport. |

Yes you do if you are planning on coming back to the United States. You now need a passport to go outside (and come back to) America for any country including the Caribbean Islands and Central America, Mexico as well, everywhere accept for other states and Puerto Rico. |
