It's honestly not even a fair comparison. Disney World is head and shoulders above Disney Land. Diney Land compares better with theme parks like Six Flags.

zuesefl
Well it is comparing Apples to Oranges.

Disneyland is classic, beautiful, and has probably the best line up of Attractions of any Disney Park. It has been beautifully maintained, and the fact that it has been there 50 years allows it to have trees, and foliage that none of the other parks have. It is the birth place of this brand of imagination and entertainment. It is kind of amazing to be in the Urban area, and once you go through the gates, you are transported to this amazing place that is not of this world.

Disney World however has the luxury of size. Once you are on Disney Property you feel the Disney touch in every thing, from driving, to parking, to transportation to every smile you see. It is a completely immersive experience and completely different from Disneyland.

Disney World and Disneyland are not interchangeable experiences, they should each be experienced and appreciate for what they are.

Rob
Disney World. Bigger, and more stuff to do in orlando.

Disney Land is mince! its just like going to any other theme park in any other country.

Disney Word is special and magical. Its not just that its bigger but the staff are friendlier and theres a much better atmosphere!

PS Disney World is more expensive to get to but its much cheaper once your there than Disney Land!

Walt Disney World in Florida is better in every way than Disneyland in California. WDW is bigger for one, there are many more options in terms of where to stay and what to do. Disneyland is landlocked and stuck in a very commercial area, where it looks like any other theme park. WDW is it's own entity, complete with it's own zip code. Disneyland is smaller than many of the Six Flag's theme parks, and you can be done in two days with the two parks. For the money and more bang for your buck I say WDW in Florida.

KitKat
Disney World. It's much larger. There are more rides and shows. The created environment is much more elaborate. Even without the satellite parks (Epcot, Animal Kingdom, MGM) Disney World is better. The extra parks add a whole other dimension. (By the way if you do end up at Epcot skip Test Track but ride Soarin' and Mission Space)

I have been to both, so hopefully I can provide you the feedback that you're looking for.

First, to correct some information by the other answerers, Disneyland (CA, 1951) is the original Disney theme park. It is smaller than WDW (FL, 1971), but that doesn't make it any better or worse.

In fact, although they do share similar attractions, they couldn't be more different, to me at least.

Disneyland is small, well, cause it had to be. Walt didn't have a lot of money to get going, so he bought only the amount of land that he needed -- he wasn't able to buy more, so as soon as it opened, other businesses started snatching up land around it, building hotels, etc.

So, they really haven't had much space to expand over the last 50 years.

Since that was such an issue, when Walt decided to build another theme park, he made sure to purchase plenty of land. In fact, WDW is about the size of Manhattan (if I remember correctly). They have 4 different theme parks and land for 3 more.

I like them both, and don't really prefer one over the other.

The fact that Disneyland is smaller and more quaint is one reason I like it. Add to that the fact that it's the only Disney theme park that Walt ever stepped foot in, well, for me, that's a big deal.

Disney World, however, is close to my heart because I grew up in Orlando. I'm only 5 hours away now, so I'm there 4 or 5 times a year.

Lots more attractions, restaurants, etc. to choose from. So, if you want a lot of options, pick WDW.

I hope that's helped!

My understanding is that Disney World is a lot bigger than Disney Land. so if you want variety and to spend days there, perhaps the nod would go to Disney World.

I have not been to Disney Land myself, but I have been to Disney World twice. Its fun and I would say worth it if you are taking kids who are old enough to appreciate it and tall enough to ride on the rides etc. Probably not worth it for very young kids or for older kids, I think there are some other parks in Orlando more suited to older kids. But in the 6 to 12 year old range, yes Disney World is fun, and fun for adults too, so if your kids range in age, it will still be fun for the teenagers too.

alexa
disney world is ten times better...
its the original...disney land is so much smaller!

Dear Julie,

Having visited Disney World in Anaheim, (cant spell but i think thats right).

I can honestly say the experience was well worth the trip, ride lines are long, but expect those at ANY theme park, I would also reccomend this area as Universal Studios is also in the area.

20min bus ride if i remember rightly, you could also look for accomodation in between these two parks as it would make it alot easier to get to both.

Universal is well worth the ride, also there may be some specials or deal you can do to reduce the admission fee if you visit both parks. (Universal & Disneyland)

Warm regards and happy travels,

Michael Jones

disney world, its the original

Disney Land (CA) is the original and first. Disney World (FL) is bigger and also surrounded by other well known attractions.

I have been to Florida yet never went to Disney World as I felt it would be too big and too many of our days would be taken up, we would miss out on doing other things and visiting other places whilst there.

I would however, go to Disneyland when in the CA area.

onelittleangelsittingonmyknee
WELL I HAVE NO IDEA SEEING AS HOW I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO EITHER. (my family took me to go to the one in florida and when we got there it was locked up tight due to a severe rain storm that was comming in that weekend.)That was when I was 7 years old and 21 years later Have never dared tempt fate again. HOWEVER IF IT WAS SOMETHING I DID DECIDE TO DO I WOULD GO TO THE ONE I COULD
A)GET TO THE FASTEST FROM HOME
AND B) AFFORD TO GO TO WITHOUT GOING INTO CREDIT CARD DEBT TO GO THERE!!
