Dallas is a cosmopolitan city with residents from all over the United States. You will meet people with a variety of accents including many with a Texas drawl.
Then again you'll also meet a lot of folks like me, born in Brooklyn, but now living in Texas. |

We don't have an accent. However, all the people who move here do have one. |

I've lived in Dallas most of my life & we speak like rest of Texas, meaning we don't have an accent-you do. And we do not speak like movies & Dallas TV series depict. Directors always use "Southern Belle accents" which is not Texan. |

Many do, but not everyone. Some have Mexican accents and there are a few from the north who have yankee accents. |

No, you would be surprised. Majority have a spanish accent. While others have the drawl associated with Texas. But when you look at numbers, the spanish accent is heavy. |

Depends.
Are you from out of state?
Than yes.
If you've lived in Texas all your life, than no.
But I live in that area, and I honestly have never noticed a strong Texas accent.
There probably is one if you come from somewhere outside of Texas though. |

I grew up in the Dallas burbs, my parents were from E. TX. and I don't notice my own accent...but some I have met from other states tell me I definitely have the Texan style with words. So yes the accent is prolific in Dallas as it is all over the state! Y'all come see us!!! Ya hear? :) |

There are many accents. The most of a "Texan" accent you may get nicknamed Cowtown or Funkytown. |

It's a multi-cultural city, and in my stay there (while road-tripping) I met people who had diverse accents (from their own cultures), some people had none really, and others had slight Texan accents.
Did hear heavier Texan accents in surrounding cities, such as Fort Worth (west of Dallas) and the small towns I visited. |

Howdy!! Not all Texans speak like that but it really depends on where you attend!! I mean I have heard that the publc schools are really bad but that's just compared to my district in Wichita Falls so there in the public school system most people will most likely speak without the accent and and be filled with minorities so try to get into the provate schools where there will be a lot of diversity and youshould meet people of all races and different accents!! Good Luck and enjoy Texas!! |

Most people in Dallas are transplants (they've moved to there and weren't born there). I myself am one. I lived here for 5 years and I moved from Akron, OH. You will find some people with that southern accent, mostly older people it seems like. But, for the most part, I don't really hear the accents too often. Now, in Ft. Worth, the more "country" side of the DFW metroplex, you will hear it a bit more. If you have any other questions, you can email me:-) Good Luck with your move! |
