He probably was doing something he had no business doing the reason he got shot at. New York can be a bad place to live too but it all depends on the company you keep and he might of been hanging with he wrong crowd. Some people make things out to be bigger than what they are.

There are bad areas in every city. Just stay out of those areas and you will be fine. It isn't a bad city entirely.

phoenix is just like any other big city. there are bad parts and good parts. there is always a chance of crime wherever you go, but if you don't mess with the wrong crowd and stay out of bad parts of town you are fine. just like LA or NYC or any other place.

nope, i have lived here all my life. as long as you're in a nice nieghborhood and hang out with the right people, its great! there are some dangerous neighborhoods, but then again, those are every where in every state. i love PHX

I live in Scottsdale, which is about a 2 minute drive from Phoenix, and I have never witnessed a crime in my life in Phoenix or Scottsdale. Although, it really depends on where your friend lives. South Phoenix is a very low income area with high crime, and downtown has some crime but not much. Also, Mesa has high crime.

Everywhere else seems practically safe. By the way I have been to oractically everyywhere in California, Las Vegas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Illinois, Colorado, and Utah and they dress, act, and look exactly like Arizonans.

There are good and bad places in every state.

Love Arizona!I Lived in Mesa for a year after Katrina,and never had a problem.Everybody I met treated me good. It was a low income neighborhood, and I miss it badly.

No Phoenix is not as bad as say LA where gang culture is still prevalent, just like any city it has its good parts and bad parts.

I can't imagine where he was at, but I have lived in the valley 21 years, I HAVE heard gunshots when I've been out and about but never have I been shot at, and we pretty much wear what we want to wear. My daughter works in the barrio and has never had any problems. Your friend must have been pretty aggressive or associating with gangs.

depends on what side of town your in yes there are shootings robberies gangs I ve lived here all my life and have seen some horrible things big cities have troubles but not all of AZ is like that

i live in central phoenix. im talking little mexico and no problems so far. but i got heat so ill manage

It's like any city. If you are in a bad part of town, you can be attacked. I don't know where he was, but it probably wasn't, say, Scottsdale.

I have lived in Phoenix for 47years, and hate it. I have never been shot. I wear all different colors.

Phoenix Sucks.
I live an hour or so south east of it and I hate this damn place. My family and I are originally from CA and we talk that we would love to move back if we could ever afford it.
