cutielicious

Please help me decide on where to move between these two places?

I want to move to either Chicago, IL or Scottsdale, AZ. I like Chicago because of the city, culture, shopping, lake, festivities in the summer, and change of seasons, but I hate hate hate how freezing it gets in the winter! I like Scottsdale, because of the mountains, mild winters, physical beauty, and relatively low cost of living, but it's lacking in city life and the summers are scortching hot! I know there's no perfect place, but I've narrowed it down to these two and can't make up my mind. I would love to hear your feedback.

Looks like it's Arizona! Thanks all for your help!! :)

Personally, I would choose Arizona because I'm an outdoorsy kind of person and there are a lot of lakes, campgrounds and hiking places in Arizona!

I lived in Chicago for years...... traffic... smog...fast pace..
expensive... hands down its Arizona.

Louisville, KY - it has everything (at least close by) that you like about both places and none of the things you hate!

i'm more of a hot weather person, so i'd go AZ...but it's really a matter of personal preference i guess...

Scottsdale has a lower crime rate if you're interested in that factor at all...

i would go with az becuase it really is kind af annoying to live in the city. Also another idea is to look at seattle>>> i live in Seattle trust me its not that bad

Scottsdale, good location, pretty good weather, good shops, hot babes, close to LA (5 hours) close to Vegas, the city is clean, super low crime rate, less traffic than Chicago.

It depends on how much time you will be spending outside for the year. Last year I spent 9 months in Las Vegas. It was hotter than hell but I wasn't outside very much. Plus I could wear shorts and light clothes all year long. I also lived in Chicago for a while. When its cold out you are almost paralized. Sometimes you can't go anywhere, you gotta wear a ton of clothes and life generally sucks. I'd vote that you should go to Arizona.

I would move to Chicago, but I think it depends where you are from. If you are from colder climates like the Midwest then you will get over all the snow and just enjoy being in the city.
But if you are from warmer climates, like the South, then you would probably feel more comfortable in Arizona.
Chicago is very expensive, unlike Scottsdale.
If you haven't done this already, try visiting both places and see which one feels the most like it could be your future home.

make a list of the pros and cons of living in each place. that should help you decide which place would be better.

kandi_ivy4
i live on the east coast so i would go with IL only because you actually get to enjoy the seasons yeah its cold in the winter but you at least get snow it makes christmas time feel warm even though it might only be like 20 outside and the summer is not that bad and im sure you can find physical beauty maybe not directly in the city but not far away so good luck with your move wherever you choose to go

I would go with scottsdale because whenever you want to experience the big city you can take off to the coast L.A. for the weekend. I prefer a big city and a beach to a big ciy and the damn snow anyay. HOPE THIS HELPS> Good Luck!

I would not want to live in Chicago unless I was a fugitive

chances are if you move to chicago, it will be a suburb outside of chicago because chicago living is very high cost! personally i'm from michigan and i really hate snow but i couldn't imagine not having all the seasons!

Karlos
Go to Chicago, but first you need to investigate your potential employment opportunities, and compare the two cities.

SJ
I would definitely recommend Scottsdale. It's closer to CA which is a great place to visit and ride waves. If I had the choice between cold or hot weather, I would take the hot any day!
