there is this one in baytown and its called antonio's italian restraunt and they have some good food there the lasagna is really good and the pizza too...and there is another one i think its in somewhere by kemah and its called top water and they have really good seafood and its fresh food its not frozen like the other places

Buca di Beppo on Buffalo Speedway is very family oriented. They serve Italian food family style in large portions that you share. It's interesting. Some people don't like the food. I personally think it's really good.

I don't know where your side of town is but, I really like Nelore Churrascaria . It is an all you can eat Brazilian Steakhouse centrally located in Montrose near the Museum District.

After post comment of the answer below:
Be careful of www.b4-u-eat.com. That site is support by restaurant advertising and my personal experience is they do not post a negative review of a restaurant that advertises on the website.

Boo Too
For restaurants open less than 60 days, try this:
http://www.b4-u-eat.com/houston/restaurants/cuisine/new_in_town.asp

We could give you more specific recommendations, but need more detailed criteria (i.e. preferences, area of town).

*On a side note, Tossed, the Fashion of Salads wins my award for goofiest new restaurant name of 2007.

Response to answer above: That's very interesting, and I think we discussed that complaint about the site before. Personally, I've never had that problem, but will keep an eye out for it in the future.

Hey. What about "This Is It" soulfood. It's soooo good and it's in downtown houston. It's pretty cheap aswell! I also love....Jack In The Box! I know what your thinking but it's hella tasty. But definetly check out This Is IT. So Good.

Bossa!!! It's in downtown but it is very very good! And also fun! They have jazz bands that come and play some night! It's "Latin fusion" food. Even better, it's fairly priced for what it is! Check out the menu, you'll find something you love (they also have special menus on the weekends that are not listed on the webpage)!
We like to go and get a few appetizers so we can try different things. FYI the ceviche is awesome... they serve it w/ plantain chips! And the dessert tastings and cute and delicious!
Try it, you'll love this place!!

Try asking in the Dining Out section.

Try Blue Nile... Ethiopean. Very interesting.

Best Thai food is at a hole-in-the-wall called Vieng Thai on Long Point between Antoine & Silber, worth a trip.
Best Japanese, Oishii on Richmond & Timmons
Best Italian, Carraba's (sorry guys but Buca di Beppo's pasta is overcooked and it's not true Italian but the kid's love it)
Best Seafood, Pesce (for expensive) or Golden's on Airline (for cheap eats)
Kids love Lupe's Tortillas for Mexican and they make a killer margerita
Kim Son on 59 & Gray for Vietnamese

boca de pepe (mentioned previous..I spelled wrong I'm sure....) is a great place. I have only been to the one in the Woodlands, but I loved it. I also like Giannas Italian Kitchen in Tomball...wonderful place. Cheesecake factory is good too. I don't know too many places "in" Houston, mostly just Tomball/Woodlands. Good Luck

Lots of great restaurants in Houston

Italian: Agree with Bucca di Beppo, great food, cheap, and fun atmosphere. Two locations - off 59 at Buffalo Speedway and north of Woodland off 45. For high price dining, go to Galleria for Bice, a bit expensive but amazing food, 1/2 price wines on Tuesday

Chinese: Best Chinese fusion is at Cafe Le Jadeite, on West Gray, wonderful food, great price, big portion, terrific atmosphere. For authentic Chinese, try Ocean's Palace on Bellaire near Kirkwood, as well as Fung's Kitchen on 59 near Sharpstown Mall.

Steak: Pappa's Brother and Vic and Anthony are two of the best; also love the atmosphere at Strip House

Seafood: Hands-down, Pesce at Kirby and W. Alabama and Truluck on Westheimer near Galleria, both wonderful fresh seafood and great selection When you are in Galveston, go to where the locals go - Benno's on Stewart Beach, off Seawall near 10th.

Mexicans: Lots of great Mexicans, Pappasitos are great, but I also like the hole in the wall Mexican places for great authentic food

South American: for cheap but great food, Red Onions - two locations, off 290 at 43rd and at Kirby off 59. For pricier, try Churrasco's and even America's

Indian: India's off Richmond between Chimney Rock and Fountain View, Bombay Brasseries at Rice Village are both cheap and great. Don't forget Indian Sunday buffet.

Japanese: Dozo's on Beltway 8 between Westheimer and Richmond is a favorite of many Asians

Doneraki in Champions is great Mexican food and a good place for the family- they've got murals & lights and all kinds of things to keep a little one interested
