1) You're sixteen. You can't get on an airplane as a minor without parental consent.
2) Honolulu is extremely expensive. You won't be able to afford living there for very long unless you plan on fishing for your whole life.
3) You're not going to be able to make it on your own there unless you plan on living off of a fisherman's salary for the rest of your life.
That having been said, best of luck to you. |

you're only 16; you can't work past nine pm or more than 20 hours a week b/c of child labour laws, sweetie. I don't mean to sound condescending, but you really have to re-evaluate your priorities. If you have a bad home life; whatever the case, there are ways to legally pursue your options that won't end up with you in the gutter. Emancipation, moving in with a relative; counseling- these all may seem like boring alternatives to what may seem like a well-thought out adventure, but trust me, you won't be happy if you do it this way- and you'll most likely end up in juvenile detention- HI, and any state for that matter, is a big place when you don't know anyone, but a small one when you're dodging the courts as a run away.
I also don't think you'd even be able to make it as far as HI- you're only sixteen; and once you get there, you won't be able to rent an apt, get a job that can affront the cost of living (and for the record, the cost of living in HI is sky-high). It's a wonderful, beautiful place, but save the trip for when you'll be able to truly enjoy it- in two years you'll be eighteen- if you still want to go there, then it will still be there.
I know none of this is probably what you want to hear, but trust me, love, these things never work out the way you think they will-

if you caught here by the police, you will be put into foster care and then returned home. I would stay in Georgia. There are enough homeless youth in Hawaii already--we don't need more. |

Bad plan . . . lots of flaws with your plan.
You don't want to be homeless in Hawaii. There are people working fulltime in Hawaii and are homeless.
You probably have at least a handful of more opportunities in Georgia. You want to move to paradise. Make a very good plan to move to Hawaii. |

Whatever problems you are facing in Georgia (unless your parents are abusing you) will look very small to you once you are homeless in Hawaii. If you had a plan, I'd say it was a bad plan, but you don't even have a plan. |

if you don't know how to get food, shelter, etc. then you are too young to be doing what you're doing. that's dangerous and stupid. you need to stay at home. |

How are you gonna get there? Thats far away too. What happens when you get home sick and your having the worst time in your life and you need to get back? I dont want to encourage you, but going to florida or something closer would be better anyway. Key west Is a lot closer, far enough though and an easier life. Once you lose all your money you can live on the beaches there wich are nice and you dont have to worry about anything. Anyway good luck with your life. And To me, as long as your family isnt a crazy alcoholic that abuses you or takes care, life is really not that bad |

well first of all, running away to Honolulu isn't the best idea i've ever heard but to each his own.
second of all....you cant just decide to go to the airport at midnight. if you really want to get away with no one noticing take a flight as early in the morning as possible. or at like 11 oclock at night if you could get out. just make sure that you have the most time to get on that plane and get to Hawaii before anyone notices your missing.
As far as money goes...you need it. so don't be stupid and spend all your money on a plane ticket and then not have any money when you get to Hawaii. this is real life...not movies. don't expect to meet some friendly Hawaiian who will take you into their house. you wont. you'd need thousands and thousands of dollars. and if you don't have that...then you're in trouble. you could take your parents credit card but that would only last you a short while. draw money out of a bank account if you have one? just don't go without any money. |

Whatever your reasoning behind running away, you should consider fixing the problem and facing it head on instead of "running away" from it.
Also, you're only sixteen. It will probably be hard to find a job. I'm assuming you don't know anyone in Hawaii. Plus, how are you going to finish school? It is important to get your diploma. I can't imagine you getting any sort of decent job later on without your diploma.
I guess you could always live in a cardboard box on the beach, beg for money, and then purchase food with that money.
I imagine tickets to Hawaii are incredibly expensive. If you want to run away, you shouldn't be wasting all the money on a plane ticket. If anything, the best way to do it would be to hitchhike (which can be incredibly dangerous) to california and then fly from there. Even then though, the tickets are expensive. And you have to pay for food along the way. |
