Balboa Park where the Zoo is much better for younger kids. There is lots of things you can do at the Park besides the zoo that they might find interesting. Like the Air Museum, Minature Railroad Museum (really cheap and fun for boys), etc...

The Zoo is a great place for children, there is a petting area they can go to, get close to all types of animals. SeaWorld would be better when they are older and go on the rides as well. Plus it is very expensive for a family.

you can take your own food into the zoo as well. You can use a stroller or ride the bus (costs extra). They do have shows on to watch

San Diego Zoo is better by FAR!

Just trust me on this. You absolutely have to go it's amazing. There are only so many Whale and Dolphin shows you can sit through before you get bored to tears

They have an amazing zoo. You cannot go wrong.

i been to both and i would def go to sea world....
sea world has over 18 exibits
about 10 rides
they have about 7shows and alot more

the zoo has 14 exibits
3 shows
no rides
no fun
plus you have 2 small children who im sure dont want to walk.
also some animals just sit there and some of them u cant even see, because ther hiding. aleast sea world is interactive with kids
the zoo is not much fun for little ones, my little bro's hated it and they love animals

1) it is so much fun!
2) your kids will enjoy it.
3) it will be memorable.

You can't go wrong with either one. I think Sea World would be your best bet, though, considering the ages of your kids. They have a great kids section where your kids will be able to pet sea creatures like rays, dolphins, and all sorts of fish. Plus there are great rides for kids, and of course the Shamu, seal, and dolphin shows. The San Diego Zoo is great, but I think Sea World would be much more fun and more Interactive for you and your kids. Have fun in San Diego!

For their ages, I will recommend the world famous San Diego Zoo. Actually both are great places to visit and if you can do both of them, go for it. Here are discount coupons to both parks.

Both are Excellent! The San Diego Zoo is probably the most beautiful and best Zoo in the world the Climate is perfect. So have a great time and try to go to both places, The Zoo is my choice overall.
There is also the San Diego Wildlife Park, information available online or at the Zoo.

Sea World has a big playground and a 4D show of Sesame Street. So they would love that! But, expect to go through a gift shop after every animal exhibit. That and it's absurdly expensive at about 60 dollars to get in and the price of food and everything else.

San Diego Zoo is much more educational but still very fun. Ticket prices are only in the 20s for adults and the kids will get in free I believe. You can take your own food in, and for the money you are saving, you might as well organize a private tour with the education department or something (maybe you'll get to pet a few animals other than the ones in the petting Zoo).
If you go on the weekend, you can feed the Giraffes too!

Cost comparison: Probably over 200 for Sea World. Maybe around 50 for Zoo. The kids will have fun at either, but you may have more fun at the Zoo.

****Oh, and Sea World may have 17 exhibits, but the Zoo has over 200. In terms of the amount of animals you will see, Sea World won't even come close!

No question -- the Zoo. There is so much more there.
Also you can tell your children that many of the animals at the San Diego Zoo were the inspiration for Dr. Seuss' animals in his books.
The zoo is large enough that you can spend the entire day there, but there are also plenty of ways to rest.

zoo. its amazing. i have a pass so i go all the time. and ull get to avoid the "splash zone" at sea world and risking getting wet

San Diego - Zoo or Sea World?
We are going to San Diego in December for my husband's work. Which would be better to visit, San Diego Zoo or Sea World? We have two boys, one will be a almost 1 and the other will be almost 4.
