If you can afford it San Diego!! Its beautiful and lots to do.

Depends on what you want to do. Dallas is know for big business, and San Diego is known for shipping, and boats. I would go to Dallas.

san diego is way better..its where my cousin moved for college and she loves the city and climate there..plus when we visited there was lots of clubs and other things to do..like see the zoo or going to the beaches...

Best for what? Career? Housing? Romance? Any way you look at it, San Diego seems to come out on top. Based on articles posted online.

Dallas, hands down, you at least have a chance at being a homeowner. A starter shack, and I do mean shack in San Diego is about 300K, and in Dallas Metro area, you can get a modest home for 120K, and it would not be a dump in a drug infested ghetto. San Diego used to be a wonderful place, about twenty-five years ago, but was already going downhill fast. San Diego is a nice place to visit, greatest zoo in the world, but not a good place to live.

Are you serious??? If you have the money SAN DIEGO!!! I wouldn't highly reccomend Dallas.... if you wanna stay in Texas try Austin.

Finacially? Dallas, no doubt. Housing rates are much, much lower, and no state taxes (try to register your out-of-state car in CA - it's almost cheaper to buy a new car). Good jobs are very available, especially if you're degreed. Plenty of stuff to do, active nightlife, and lots of lakes within a 30 minute drive.

San Diego is an almost perfect place to be. If I could afford it, I'd be there!

Dallas isn't as bad as I thought, but you still would have to pay me a king's ransom to live there (and then I'd be saving up for somewhere better).

I am born and raised in Dallas, but absolutely love San Diego - to visit.
San Diego is magnificently beautiful with a variety of natural resources to take advantage of, yet you are going to pay for them. Mightily.

Above posters are correct a modest 2 br/2ba house will run you 300k or up depending on location.

Dallas, on the other hand, doesn't necessarily have the abundance of natural beauty or the beach nearby, but you ware a 3-hour plane ride from just about anywhere in the U.S..
The housing market is quite affordable. You will to live in places like the Park Cities, Uptown or Lakewood, but you can fairly affordable housing in great location. You can pay $100/per square foot for real estate in decent neighborhoods, if your are looking to buy. If you do buy, though, property taxes are some of the highest in the country.

The job market is very ripe. From locations in the suburbs to the city center, companies are moving to NOrth Texas because of the lower property prices and taxes. Remember - there is no state income tax in Texas, so you automatically make a little more $$$$ just from that.

Beyond the serious stuff, Dallas is a great place to live. The people are so friendly and there is a ton of "fun" stuff to do -from watching sports to playing them, there are also a ton of lakes and golf courses to take advantage of.

Plus, you are only a 3-hour drive from Austin - one of the greatest cities in the U.S.

In San Diego unless you have tons of money from generous parents you will live in a cracker jack box and be counting your pennies. It is a total tourist trap town now.
Dallas has less traffic, less pollution, less stress, lots more to do, more job opportunities, cheaper college. People know how to party in Texas.
If you are not sure after doing your research online and the reason San Deigo is sounding good is because of the beach, take a look at the southern cities in Texas.
San Antonio is the third-fastest growing city in America and the fastest growing city in Texas. Houston rivals San Diego with the beaches nearby.

Dallas. It's costs MUCH MUCH less to live than San Diego. There's plenty of nightlife/entertainment, historical places to visit, and the Cowboys & Rangers play there. Texas doesn't have state income tax like California does, and gas prices are 1/2 than San Diego. Those were some of the pros...the cons: tornados, humidity, Chicago winds, ice, sleet, freezing rain.

San Diego...just like Dallas, only cleaner & it's by the water. Costs an armload to live there.

Never been to San Diego before, but I know that California is expensive. Of course proned to earthquakes as well and nobody can predict them. I don't know the crime rate in San Diego but its probably the same as Dallas. In Dallas you can get a lot more house for your money probably what buys a modest house in San Diego can buy a huge house or mansion in Dallas. Dallas maybe proned to tornadoes but its not as bad as areas north of Dallas like Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee or Kansas. I believe its been years since any of the DFW metroplex has been impacted by a tornado. The crime in Dallas is starting to go down but I still wouldn't live in Dallas, I would choose either the bigger suburbs like Irving, Carrollton, Lewisville, Grapevine, Garland, Mesquite, Richardson, Plano, or Arlington. Or some of smaller suburbs like Cedar Hill, Seagoville, Desoto, Red Oak, Rowlett, Rockwall, Forney, or Sunnyvale. These are some of the suburbs near Ft Worth, Keller, Wautaga, North Richland Hills, Hurst -Euless -Bedford-, known as HEB, Justin, Benbrook, Weatherford, Argyle, Roanoke, Burleson, or Mansfield. I will not leave out Denton which is where 35e and 35w meet and is equal distant north of Dallas and north of Fort Worth about 35 miles. You can find a good job, low crime and affordable housing in all these areas, good luck.
