I am an insurance agent based in Washington, DC and my advice is that you pay the tickets.
If you do not pay them, they will double the tickets. The District will also take the steps necessary to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles in North Carolina (through a reciprocity program that all states and D.C. participates in) and North Carolina will proceed to suspend your license until you pay the District of Columbia. If you visit the District of Columbia, they will also boot and/or tow your vehicle at anytime they find it parked if you still owe the tickets. And last but not least, they will refer unpaid tickets to a collection agency which will result in damaging your credit rating.
Please do yourself a favor and pay the tickets. Sorry you got them and I do hope you come visit our fair city again!
Good Luck! |

Most of the states, including DC, have reciprocal agreements to enforce one another's parking tickets. In short, you could get into trouble with the NC motor vehicle folks if you don't pay you DC ticket. It is also possible that DC, after finding your name and address from the NC motor vehicle registration database, will report you to the credit bureaus, which can hurt when you try to get credit cards and loans.
If you do happen to go back to DC, if a parking officer has any reason to run your license plate number, your car will be instantly "booted" and possible towed.
In short, it's best to just pay! The longer you wait the higher the penalties and interest will climb. |

through the magic of your licence plate and drivers licence, they will track you down. just pay the 10 bucks or whatever, and get on with it. |

Ever hear of a bench warrant? You could get pulled over two years from now for having a brake light out and get arrested for having a body attachment from D.C. Is it worth it? |

You should probably pay. A lot of cities now report unpaid tickets to credit agencies and it can hurt your score. I had one from a friend who borrowed my car in San Diego (even though I returned to Alaska shortly after) and it still shows up on my credit report. Even though I eventually paid it, it still impacted my score for a long time. |

Yeah pay it cause it'll go on your record as unpaid fines, they write down the car description and plate numbers and if you get pulled over or anything they'll see it. |

Just pay the ticket. Is it really worth it to be looking over your shoulder if you ever do go back? Who needs that kind of stress. Just pay it and move on with your life. That way you will have no regrets. You never know for sure that you will not be back to DC and stuff like that can sneak up on you. |

I have gotten many parking tickets and have decided that the best thing to do is just pay them, you will keep getting billed and it can turn into something much more serious or costly. |

I would pay it. They could end up posting a warrant for your arrest if unpaid. |

Pay it; they might arrest you if you don't. |

They can make it awfully inconvenient for you if you don't pay it. Even if you stayed in SC for the rest of your life. All you need is to find yourself on the wrong side of the law somewhere else, & they can check on the National Crime Information Centre data base to see if there are any warrants for your arrest (there will be if you ignore your tickets) & you may find yourself being held in custody until the matter has been resolved.
Is it really worth all of that trouble? |

You wont have any problem unless you go back and get pulled over by cop. |

Yes, pay! They have your license plate and can track you, and can get a judgement against you, which they will be certain to send to your home state and which will surely come to the attention of your insurer. If they get really aggressive they can legally issue what is called a "bench warrant" for your arrest, and those can be executed anywhere. So -- pay up! |

If you would pay it at home; then you should pay it away. You are a guest and an ambassador of all the other people from North Carolina.
If you are a stand up guy you will pay it.
If you are a Welsh you will not. |

I my self ignore a parking ticket that I got around 4 years ago... in my hometown where I currently stay at! Nothing has happen to me so far and it does NOT go on your driving record either! I mean... Unless they personally gave you the ticket than thats a diffrent story! Me... cop just left the ticket on my windshield! No name... Just my vehicle license plate number, anyone else could have been driving it you know! |
