Should I take my kids to Los Vegas?

My husband is coming home from being away for 6 months and we are going to go to Los Vegas. Well I would like to leave my kids with my mom so my husband and I can have some time together. But I kinda want to take them now. What should I do just leave them with my mom so we can have the time alone or bring them with?
Additional Details
My kids are 2 and 17 months.

NO. Leave them with mom. You need the time together alone.

It depends on how old they are I would say, but my parents took me to Las Vegas when I was around ten and I did not enjoy it at all. Obviously kids aren't allowed basically anywhere, so they'd probably just be trapped inside the hotel room the entire day. Just leave them with their grandmother and have some time with your husband, they'll survive.

I'm gonna have to say no.

Las Vegas went through a period in the '90s where it reinvented itself as a "family" destination and hotels started opening theme parks and making their shows less adult-oriented. This was when hotels like Treasure Island and the MGM Grand opened. That went out the window when they realized you can make more selling overpriced cocktails to buzzed twentysomethings than you can trying to create another Disneyland.

When I was really little, like ages 3 to 5, I got dragged to Vegas with my parents repeatedly. This was late '80s/early '90s when the whole place was basically smoke-filled casinos and cheap buffets and I was bored out of my mind. Then Treasure Island and the MGM Grand opened and it there was actually stuff for me to do.

But that was 1995. Now MGM closed its theme park and got rid of the Wizard of Oz theme and Treasure Island has become t.i. Basically if you're under 21 in Vegas now you're out of luck.

Leave them with your parents. They'll avoid an unpleasant experience and you can have some alone time with your husband.

Your kids are very young
if you take them with you you might not have a chance to enjoy yourself && they wont enjoy themselves either
it might be a better idea to leave them with your mom && when you && your husband come back you can all do something together as a family.

If you want to have a family vacation, go to San Diego or Disneyland.

Las Vegas is an adult city. It is Sin City. There are a few things the kids may enjoy, but they are few and far between.

There is the fountain at the Bellagio along with its garden. (Free)

There is the Adventuredome with about four rides the kids can ride on. (Admission is free but rides are $4 each for tame rides and $7 for the nmore exciting ones)

There is the Secret Garden with the dolphins, tigers and lions (Sigfried and Roy) at the Mirage casino. ($15 for adults, your kids would be admitted for free)

There is the Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay. (Either $10 or $15 for adults and the kids would be admitted for free)

I cannot think of anything else for kids. I would recommend leaving the kids at home. I compiled about 5 hours worth of activities for a very high price.

At that age, leave them with your mother and make it a grownup's only trip. Little kids have a high tendency to get overwhelmed with the noise and lights and commotion of Vegas, which makes them cranky and miserable. There's also not a lot of attractions geared to toddlers, so you'd end up spending far too much time in the room, or at the pool, or just not doing anything that YOU want to do.

I say, since it's been a while since you've seen your husband - take this time to get reacquanited with each other and enjoy everything Vegas has to offer - which is not something you can do with small children.

It depends on their age young children will most likely not enjoy it there, but if they are older it might be more fun for them if they are young i suggest u leave them with ur mother

godhonesttruth
Leave them behind. I found America to be a little boring overall but Las Vegas seems to be a city where they can be a little wilder, so i suggest it would be better for all if you left them with your mum.

leave them at home

If you want to bring your children, I'd suggest call Nannies and Housekeepers (ask your hotel, they use that agency) for babysitters while you and your husband spend time on your own. They're really great agency, but the service is $45/hr.

It Depends how old they are. there are many things kids can do there tho, first right now... its a great time to go swimming there is also, circus, circus , New York,New York, Treasure Island, the M&M factory place, i saw Mama Mia there also there is a place almost like Dave and Busters... i don't remember the name. and the hotels are so cool i loved just walking around in them!

I would leave them with your mom(grandma) ,as long as she is trustable and will be nice to your kids - like you would be nice to your kids .
Las Vegas is full of gambling and bad stuff .Do you really think it's a good idea to expose them to that stuff at such a young age ?

Chip O
I will take them if I were you because you will spend most of your time worring about them and will not enjoy your trip.
I take my kids to Las Vegas every year and they love it. Even the 3 yr old. There are lots of activities for kids. You just have to plan it well. Here a few fun things your kids will enjoy.

I say leave the kids home.I know they have attractions for children now but I don't think it's a place for kids....This is coming from one of the most liberal paople you'll ever hear from.Go with your husband and have a blast...

What I love about Vegas is that it's one of those few places that can entertain crowds of all ages. But 17 months may be a bit tough.

While it's not an amusement park, I've never found myself bored there while a non-gambler like me can't stand Atlantic City.

The nights are usually fun to go out for a bit wih your spouse & enjoy a nice show or something. But that toddler will most probably keep you pretty tied up.
