Should i go to San Diego and spend a week there?

Me and my friend are visiting los angeles from Italy and we are thinking about going to San Diego tonight to spend 4 days there before we go back to Italy. But we read in the news that there is the swine flu, and that people are dying in Mexico. San Diego is close to mexico... should we go? is there a big risk of getting the swine flu?

You'll have more risk during your flight home than you would visiting San Diego. I, personally, wouldn't pass up an opportunity to visit San Diego...it's a great place. So much to do, and see, and the weather's always good. I like it much better than LA.

There've been a few confirmed cases here, as there have in other states, but they've all been remarkably milder than the cases in Mexico, and certainly no one has died. It presents much as any other influenza, so the same precautions would apply: wash your hands frequently, avoid contact with anyone visibly ill, make sure you're getting enough rest and proper nutrition. You'll be fine. Don't let a media panic deter you from living life!

no, i live in san diego :] it's super nice! go to sea world, the beach, del mar or la jolla!

i don't know anybody with swine flu haha, just stay away from mexico and wash your hands!

oh and welcome to san diego!

Yes, You should come. There are alot of place to go to and see in San Diego. Definitely go downtown, to Seaport Village, and the bay. Its really nice at night. There are also alot of nice hotels down town. And visit the beaches down here. They are the best. And for the swine flu thing Mexico is about 90 miles away. It would take over 2 hours to get there. So you are definitely ok and won't get the swine flu. I don't know what age you guys are but you guys should also go visit Sea World or the San Diego Zoo if you are interested.

Absolutely! Well it is basically right on top of Mexico, so if you are that worried about it I wouldn't go. But you will be fine.

sure you might as well go since ur gonna be in california

I live in San Diego. There is nothing you can do here, or anywhere else to avoid swine flu other than what you normally do to avoid the regular flu. Just do NOT go down to Tijuana if you visit San Diego, not because of the swine flu but because of all the crime in Mexico right now.

The flu is everywhere! The governor is even worried about it here in Colorado. Go, have fun!

Alexis

No I wouldent because your going to a amazing place soon and that would not good if you got sick but it also depends where going to go if you do go to San Diego too. = D

There are confirmed infections in San Diego.

I would wash my hands and avoid personal contact with others.

Have a nice trip!

It's a beautiful place, if you go make sure you wash your hands a lot to avoid that flu and stay away form all Mexicans.

Only you can answer that question yourself. I personally don't know anyone with swine flu, none of the schools or public places are closed, and workplaces have not canceled all flights out of San Diego.

Having said that - one never knows. You could be the next one. I could be the next one!

If you do plan to come visit, I highly recommend that you visit our beaches, the zoo, Old Town. The Flower Fields are very nice now, and fresh strawberries are in season. Check it out:

i think the best thing would be not to go. Not only because san diego is close to mexico, but because there has already been a reported case of swine flu there and by going you might be putting your health at risk and you could also spread it around. So the answer is no, dont go. Trust me im from texas and people have been gettin sick here, i was planing to travel but the risk of spreding the disease to others is too high

Natasha F
um it depends how important to going to san deigo if you don't really need to go it may be best not to go well you know how the saying goes it's better to be safe than sorry. i mean your going to other places as well you can go some where else. it your choice anyway do what you think is right.
