Ah the big 18 has arrived. My kids now 28 and 25 tried to live being 18 all in one week.
Where are you coming from? How far in your car? What if you spend past that 2 months supply of money? and still dont have a job?
If I were you , before you move here (I live in Calif.) get on the internet and check out the newspaper classifieds in the area you think you want to move to, there are bunches and more of homeowners that have rooms for rent. some have the internet hook ups , pools, private entrance, laundry facility etc. If youre gonna move in with a room mate and chances are they are a stranger, youre better off where youre renting from the homeowners are stable and you only have to be responsible for around $500.00 a month for a room. Not like if youre room mate is irresponsible and doesnt have their part of the rent , then you both get evicted and lose your place . then things start to get ugly
we have more than any ones share of homeless and on the street people. This is no joke, there are alot of dangerous things happen in California. Its a lot of people from alot of walks of life here. And the beauty makeup hair skills are more competitive because of this being the place where the beauty thing is what everyone want s to do . be a hair dresser to the stars. The only other competitive job close falls next is dental assisting. oh and nails. More than enough frustration there i am sure.
Seriously find a decent homeowner with a room to rent like in a nice area and do a little background check on them, and find good people , move in with them. they are more security for you while youre trying to get settled. God Bless you and good luck.
If I can be of help just email me. Youre parents must be saddened by you moving. |

NEVER EVER come here without having a guaranteed job FIRST!!!!
I don't know how much money you have, but even a studio apartment in a decent area is $1000/mo. (without utilities, 1st and last, and security deposits), and no one will rent to you if you don't have a decent job. In fact, every landlord I've ever met requires a new tenant to have been at their current job 6 months.
Check into car insurance, too. It's pretty high here. I have a spotless driving record and an 8 year-old Honda, and I haven't been able to find anything for less than $150/mo (even with the barest coverage).
Save your money-- LOTS of it-- before you head to LA. The economy here is probably no better here than it is where you now live, so a job is tough to find.
I'd suggest you come out here for a couple of weeks to get the lay of the land and to look for a job, apartment, etc, to see if moving is realistic. |

I think you may have a good chance of making it her because you have a marketable skill and a plan to get a job. Check out spas and salons in Bev Hills, West Hollywood, Westlake Village and Santa Monica. I know a make- up artist that is doing well at a salon on Larchmont street in LA.
Good luck and lets us all know where you set up shop so we can come by. |

Well, that's better than most plans. How much do you have saved up? I hope around $5000 or more. Rent for a 1BR is about $1200 for a decent area.
Good luck. |

You could move to California but if I were you, I'll visit first, and find a jobs. (2 jobs would be good enough to support yourself) |

Yes as you can get a a working permit under a green card if this is your intention to do so. Good luck as it's a tricky process, I've been there and our visa application just went through the roof and we had to leave afterwards, our container even arrived on the day we were leaving. What sheer unluckiness eh? |
