If you must go fly southwest. But I would try really hard not to go. I drive through there going to Colorado a couple of times a year and it's not much. |

Oh my gosh you pulled a fast one. I was wondering why Amarillo would be a vacation destination!!
Just went through it twice last week on the way to Colorado and was trying to be helpful if you had no choice! |

Try this website: http://www.ci.amarillo.tx.us/
Then go to mapquest.com and put Dallas as your starting point and Amarillo as your destination and click on get directions. |

Are you sure you want to go there? There isn't much there, cows, goat ropers (cowboys), honky-tonks (cowboy bars), and very little class. Try Dallas. Much more to choose from for all tastes and temperaments. |

Just head west on 287 from Fort Worth. You can't miss it.
It is on the Texas high plains, so think of a city surrounded by grass and more grass.
You can eat free if you can hold a 72oz. streak all in one sitting.
They might even let you go out and take apart one of those nuclear weapons.
Fact is you might want to go see the place so you wll know just where the most likely place a nuclear detonation could occur and rain down fall out on your life lies.
Its a city that looks like a big small town. |

I don't know of any reason to visit Amarillo, but it's on I-40, or you can go north from Lubbock.
You would go north-west from Ft. Worth, not west. |
