Most of the people that answered have no idea what the winters are like in Minnesota. I moved here from Ohio and I love the weather here. Even in the winter. It doesn't get that cold and even then not for long like back in the midwest. It snowed once here in five years for one day and it melted before the end of the day. Take it from one who knows, the weather here is beautiful and we don't have to endure hurricanes like in humid Florida where it rains just about every day.
The problem is the economy right now. Jobs are few and far between. For every one job opening there are 100 applicants. Think twice and wait a year and hope for a change. |

i don't live in vegas but i've been there many times in all kinds of weather. in the winter, it gets really cold and sometimes even snows there. if you hate the cold, you'll love summer there. it's really hot and humid. during spring, the weather is average, just about in the 60's. i'm exactly the same, i hate cold weather and i love vegas cause it's so much fun! |

well here in Las Vegas more buildings are being built like the city center right on the strip and finding a job is pretty much harder (of course) and some well allot of businesses are being built off the strip and the weather is getting warmer. |

Agreed. It snows a lot where I'm from too. I used to like snowboarding and sledding and stuff when I was a kid.. now I hate it. I want to move too.. Vegas is going to be a drastic change from Minn. Everything is more expensive there, the whole lifestyle is different. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. I wouldn't be able to move there I would get in too much trouble. |

it's expensive but, depending on where you live / plan to live will be a big factor....west of the strip and south arew good areas or were the crime rate isn't to bad that way. you'd be surprized to see how much it has changed in 12 years......it changes every time i go which is every year to get away from the minnesot weather too...lol...small world. |

I used to live in NJ and similar experience to you. I could not tolerate another day of the cold and snow. I decided I am moving. It took me 60 days. I sold my house and this was 2006 so I made money. It sold in 3 days. I called the moving company, gave other stuff away. Got an apartment and got in the car and never looked back. I am happy here because of the weather and things to do. My lady friend lives in Chicago and is now planning to move here very soon. She has gone through a terrible winter, I am sure Minn had the same weather.
She came here from New YEars and was happy to be able to go outside without all the extra coats, hats and boots.
So you can be happy by moving to paradise. |

Vegas is a lot different now. The traffic is insane and the housing market is one of the worst in the nation. If you are looking to buy a home and dont mind heavy psychotic traffic, you will be good to go. I know some people who live there and they say to stay away from the strip as much as possible so you dont get sick of it so soon. |

The weather is no the only issue. Las Vegas suffers from the same issues a lot of resort towns face. The areas immediately adjacent are not particularly pleasant places to live. But if you live far enough away from the Strip to the West, especially there are very nice areas.
That said, I suggest you visit there for a while first. Weather-wise, Montana is one extreme and Las Vegas is another. You may find something in between that is much more to your liking.

This is NOT the time to move to Vegas. 10% unemployment and going up. State, City, County jobs are frozen. Casinos are laying off right and left due to the low gambling of visitors. Businesses are closing daily. Rent of apartments is very high in an area you would want to rent.
In those ten years the town has grown to 2 million people with the associated crime, traffic, etc. It is not the town you probably remember at 11. Most of those casinos are gone and corporate mega resorts took there place.
So unless you are a millionaire or a guaranteed job, it is not advisable to move here |

wanna?
The cost of living is like California,
Plenty of jobs related to casinos and gambling,
Plenty to do, plenty of people downtown!
The weather is excellent! |

lol @ Vegas getting cold. We do get cooler days, and sometimes (rarely) get snow, but it's a TON better than MN. We're a little colder than CA and AZ, so I can say that I definitely prefer the weather here in LV. I personally think it's great living here. Yeah, some people are haing issues with their jobs and houses, but if you're smart, you can still find work. If you do move here, look into the Henderson or Summerlin area. Stay away from Central Vegas and the Nellis area. Both are aweful. If you find anything labeled Green Valley, 7 Hills or Aliante, that's all good too. |

Outside of the horrible economey, Vegas is a great place to live.
Rent is dirt cheap in most places, at least compared to much of the country. And they are practically giving houses away.
But beware of one thing, there are not alot of great jobs out there. |

I just saw a picture of a solar array in the desert near Las Vegas with snow covering the solar panels. You should know that its not all that warm in the winter. Probably not as cold as MN though. |
