Anticipation is usually worse than the thing itself.

I have ridden Space Mountain so many times. As you have heard from those prior to me:
**It does NOT go upside down
**It is mainly in the dark for the entire ride, and that is what makes it scary fun
**It doesn't last for more than 2-3 minutes, so if you find you don't like it, it's over soon.
**the stuff after the ride is cool, so you get a reward for taking the ride
ALSO ** if you chicken out at the last moment/decide you do not want to ride the coaster, one of the attendants can show you to the end of the roller coaster and you can just cruise through the displays at the end, and you do NOT have to ride the roller coaster at all. ** I have done that many a time with a friend who didn't want to ride. There is NO shame in that. So don't feel obligated once you walk into the maze of what I call cow herding toward the coaster. Once you get to the part where you go towards a "get-on" to the left or to the right, just tell the attendant you would rather not ride the coaster, and they'll show you the path to the end displays.

Space Mtn. is an indoor roller coaster that goes pretty fast. The coaster does not go upside down, but there are a few pretty sharp turns, plus the fact that the whole thing is in the dark with very little light. Is it scary, depends on who you ask. My 12 year old daughter likes the ride, but thinks it is a little scary. My 8 year old son would ride the ride non stop if we would let him. It is all relative. I personally don't think it's scary, but it is a good roller coaster.

Hope this helps!

No it's not scary. 6 year olds get on it. It does have a couple of small drops but nothing major. It doesn't go upside down.

rookieface
Ahhhhh yes! I almost cried when i rode it. I dont know if you go upside down because my eyes were closed after 30 seconds. But that was when I was 12.

Indiana Jones
it does NOT go upside down. its not scary to me.
it can be scary because its in the dark so you aren't sure when the drops and the sharp turns are coming.
really its a little bigger than those little rollercoasters at you local theme park that has one bigger drop and some smaller ones and near the end the track goes in a couple of cirles really fast. those smaller rollercoasters are usually call somethiing like "wild cat" or something.
it seems bigger than that though because of it being in the dark and because there are two tracks because two "space shuttles" are going at the same time. so when you're on the ride and see alot of track remember there are two full rollercoaster tracks in the building.
so to recap if you are afraid of the littlest of rollercoasters you may get a little bit scared but if you just were afraid it was really big and stuff its not too big.

As roller coasters go, it's pretty mild. Many people don't know this, but Big Thunder Mountain Railroad actually hits a top speed that's 4 mph faster than Space Mountain's top speed. The illusion of faster speeds is created by the projections that move along the ceiling and walls.

It does NOT go upside down. In fact, the scariest part is an unexpected drop that lasts just under a second.

What's really scary is riding Space Mountain when all the inside lights are turned ON. You can't normally do this. Guests only experience that if there's a malfunction with the ride and safety issues require them to turn on the inside lights. We used to do that after closing for kicks and grins as we were putting the cars away.

It is not scary, and quite fun, actually. It does not go upside down, so don't worry about that, but it does have a couple of small drops. Nothing big, really. If you want, there are a couple videos on YouTube that people have taken when they went on the ride. However, Space Mountain is a ride that takes place indoors and in the dark, so you might want to check out a video where the lights are on. I think there are a couple. But trust me, there is nothing to be afraid of. Just have fun!

Here is a link to a POV video of Space Mountain in Walt Disney World with the lights on:

I'm 13 and don't find it scary at all. It does not go upsidedown and there are no MAJOR drops, just little stuff. The thrill of hte ride is that it's kind of fast and takes place in the dark. You can't really see where you are going. It's really fun.

CB
No, it doesnt go upside down. It can get a bit scary for some people, but if you close your eyes and don't look at all of the lights, it isn't bad at all. I know lots of little kids who go on it.

Its really not that scary, and yes it does NOT go upside down. I was scared the last time because I was in the front seat, and needless to say I felt like i was going to fly off. I had forgot what it was like because I hadn't been on it in probably 15 years. Its not bad. Its really short so that's a plus. Now considering I didn't like it, but I love rocking roller coaster, so I guess its a matter of opinion. Personally if I were you I would try it. You will probably love it.

Josh
Takes place in the dark so if your afraid of the dark and sudden drops it might be a little intense. It does not go upside down only small drops and sharp turns.
