I was on the train a few months ago and across from me was a teenage boy a few years older than me whose pants were about 10 sizes too big. (apparently that's the style) So when the train got to his stop, he got up and walked to the door but his pants started falling down and he tripped and fell between the doors. They were about to close on him when somebody helped him up. It was pretty funny.

NYC fan
An apparently homeless man, taking a rest, looking quite disheveled. However, there was one thing that caught the eye; a shiny piece of metal under the coat. It was a badge.

Signaled to the undercover officer that the badge was showing, and he quietly nodded, smiled, and covered it up.

Gotta love the NYPD.

I saw a guy jump over the turnstyle, catch his foot and fall face first on the floor! He came up and spit his front teeth out! And, THAT most definitely ruined MY day - don't know about his though!

......
pigeons inside a underground station (where you have to take an elevator to get there) i always wondered what those pigoens where thinking, taking the elevators.
a kid writing graffitti in front of me
some drunk guy fell asleep and fell off his seat, hitting his head on one of the metal posts
break dancers
people selling candy(not strange i know)
a guy hanging a bunch of his dry cleaning on the metal grapplings
a clown!
the police and rescue workers during 9-11 would take the subways and i would see them, full of dust, always made me sad
a guy playing a guitar for money (not to bad at it either)
two gay guys making out in front of me,lol

ok, i ran out, can't think of any more, but i probably have seen more things than this

those that really matter to you!
A raccoon in the 1 train 5 years ago in the Dyckman street station.that was really strange to see.

The strangest thing I ever saw was train surfing back in '95 after that movie with Snipes and Harrelson came out.

A murder in 1993,that was scary.

A pigeon in the train (5 train), rats (that's usual), blind man playing the accordion, panhandlers pretending to be blind, men playing African drums, African women asking if you want your hair braided (125 st), people preaching the word of god, more panhandlers claiming they are deaf, and give you papers to read their stories. I think the breakdancers are cute. Did anyone see the MJ impersonator who is at Grand Central? The tin man in Times Square (don't know if he's there still), the magician who has birds fly out his hat.

Only in NYC.

How about the gropers , or my high school English teacher talking to himself ? How about the breakdancers that are on the trains performing. i once saw a group where one guy fell on his *** and they ould not wait for the next stop they were so embarassed.

oh this one is the best- years ago while on a late night ride home from a concert in NYC my boyfriend and I were sitting on the train. In the far corner there was a man sleeping with his head bent down over a news paper. Across from him were what looked like a gang of teenagers who might be up to no good. All of a sudden they burst out into a stifled laugh that would not quit and became quite contagious. My boyfriend and I asked them what was so funny and they were pointing at the sleeping man, no one could speak as they were laughing too hard. We looked over and there he was sleeping. His toupee had fallen off and sat upside down in his lap atop the newspaper. I thought I would pee in my pants.
We actually stayed on until the last stop to see what he would do when he awoke. Ha ha ha.
Another one that I loved was every week there was one man who could not sing or play the guitar yet insisted on doing both, most annoying. We used to pay him not to play. i am sure this was his motive..

I wouldn't really call what you saw weird....those are all very standard things to see ON and off of the subway....?

I saw a man begging for food and when someone offered him their lunch, the guy refused it and said he wanted money instead.

I had just finished my lunch when a homeless woman asked me for the food that I had already finished...when I told her there wasn't any left, she promptly laid stomach-down on the floor and threw a temper tantrum fit for a two year old.

Fly girl
The breakdancers are so funny, lmao! I've seen them many times.

I saw someone get jumped on the 4 train once. That was scary as hell.

One late night, I was on the 2 train uptown where a man was verbally assaulting a woman he did not know for at least 25 minutes. This went on all the way into the Bronx until he finally got off the train. The other passengers would not get involved.

The panhandlers are a regular occurence on every train in the city.

It could be the garbage cans chained to subway station columns or iron fences. I could not imagine why people want to steal garbage cans from subway stations.
