The Best State Ever. It's like another country.

Where else can you have Mountains, deserts, beaches, prairie lands. North, South, East and West Texas are all completely different and unique in their own ways.

I am a Texas-EX (UT Alumni). The rival of UT and A&M is a rival in the heads of A&M only. UT could care less about the Aggies. They are more of a nucience than anything. UT only rival is OU (Oklahoma Sooners).

The people. Texans are the most generous, bighearted, friendly, positive, you-can-do-anything people anywhere. We have heat, hurricanes, floods, traffic jams, mosquitos the size of labradors and a State government that really can't get anything at all done. And. I. Love. It.

Pros: The University of Texas, excellent food, friendly people, mild winters, the culture, and reasonably-priced real estate.

Cons: Texas A&M, humidity, bugs, and Aggies who have to earn a college degree in order to learn how to spell.

The weather in Houston is NOT a good thing. The humidity is horrible in the summer. Not to mention the hurricanes and tropical storms.

My grandparents live in KY. we go there every year for family reunion. they are more out in the country. Texas is nice but if you like heat then this is the place for you. i have lived in Texas most of my life and it is a good place to live.

I consider my self a Naturalized Texan, I was born in another part of the world---get a rope! All my children soon to number 5 and my DH are Natives, that makes me a Texan. (and my former state also sent people to the Alamo)

Would I leave NOPE

This is my home. The culture, the Mexican influence, Love the food. and for the buying, just as much land as you can afford. I still see horses and cattle as I drive down the road, I live outside of Houston and there is so much to do and see it's wonderful. They are dedicated to the Arts and museums and bettering life for all Texans. If you look into Fort Bend County we are the fastest growing county in the US and ranked #3 for saftey in the City of Sugar Land.

Sugar Land is very diverse in culture a lot of international companies locate their people out here and a lot of international companies headquarter out here too.

Not only are we deep in our own history but in prehistoric history as well.

Our family motto is " If you can't see Texas than you've gone to far"

I've lived in TX since I was 18 months old (I'm 56 now). I was born in OK! You'll love it here - there's so much to do and the scenery runs the gamut from mountains to ocean! By the way, The University of Texas is the ONLY university worth debating over! Hook'em Horns!

Everything you just said is what keeps the people that visit here coming back for more. You just dont find Southern Hospitality anywhere else like you do in Texas.
Texans (by birth) are extremely proud of their state and do whatever they can to extend a hand to help you if its needed. Texas isnt just a state...its a state of mind.

Personally, my favorite part about Texas is Austin...my family's from Houston, I'm about to graduate college in Austin, and Austin's just a great place. Houston isn't so bad either, but I don't think I could live in Texas if it wasn't for Austin. But besides that, weather's nice, and when it gets too hot, everywhere you go has air conditioning. If you're living in Houston, you're really close to beaches. Galveston's always a fun day trip. Lots of nice areas.

here in houston it is very diverse in culture so u can many different restaurant with different inlfluences and most are good. so if u do decide to come down then welcome and don't mess with texas.:)

LOVE TEXAS, you have perfect weather for 9 months outta the yr with accasional rain, in the winter it willl get cold SOMETIMES it will freeze.over leavn ice or snow.and yes it does get pretty hot durring the summers... but thats why you go to th beaches. i stay in texas becuase theres no other place on earth like it!. texas has everything any other state can offer and more. ive been to NY well texas has 2 of the biggest cities in the country( houston and dallas) if u like the sunny weather and beaches move to south padre. if you lilke suburban life move to plano,south lake, midland, or well any where in north dallas.if you like sports well world champions spurs. + the mavs+ the rockets then football, COWBOYS! and texans... plus our areana football team is # 1 with the best record ever. baseball we have the astros and rangers( im from dallas but ill say tht the rangers suck) colleges omg! UT, A&M, TCU, RICE,TECH,UNT, all good schools.... i stay in texas cuz i love it!

I live in Houston and it is fantastic! We used to have Astroworld so it was great when we had it now we can go to San Antonio for Fiesta Texas or Dallas if we feel like a thme park, Galveston had Schlitterbahn (indaoor water park and Moody Gardens. We have the Reliant Stadium GO TEXANS!! and the HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO the biggest in TX. Also if you want to keep living dont ever discuss Cowboys in Houston and the Texans and Dallas. Football is a way of life here not a sport so better learn it fast if you want to fit in. and our highways are the easiest to figure out and where else would you find loads of families picining on the side of a freeway(highway) in the spring when the bluebonnets are in bloom. Austin offers great music/nightlife 6th street. Dallas and Houston offers great Malls and San Antonio has the river walk and HOME of the Alamo!! and the coldest we get is a warm 65 and that doesnt happen till Feb. so for 1 month we have winter and 11 is summer we skip spring and fall. so come on down your more then welcomed!

I love texas (especially houston)!! The people are friendly and it's very clean. You'll never get bored in Houston!!

Man The HEAT it's hot...so hot...and hummid...and you know i could deal with it a little better if it was cause we has beautiful beaches ....but no...only with your eyes closed....sorry man i have lived here most of my life and i am begging to try something else...there are good things the people who have answed and you yourself mentioned the good things..but just make sure you like it hot and hate it cold....

I feel so left out because of all of the Texas patriotism here. I have been here all my life and I am so sick of it and want to get out.

I've been in Texas for 4 years now, and I can't wait to leave. I've been stuck in Abilene. There's nothing here to do if you're between the ages of 16 and 21. You either have to be a youngster, or over 21 to enjoy yourself.

The Dallas/Ft. Worth metro-plex is too far away for less than a 3 day weekend. San Antonio is 4-5 hours away, Houston/Galveston is 6-8 hours away.

There's not much here to begin with. Although, it is a good place to raise a family, and if you are religious, you'll love it here. Abilene's been in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the Most Churches per Capita.

So yeah, I'm ready to leave and go back to my home in New York...
