keep your doors locked and stay inside. i have a family member that works for rwc police dept. but i haven't heard about this shooting. yet anyway. to try and sleep is probably a waste of time right now. turn your tv on and lay in bed and watch it til you fall asleep. keep your mind elsewhere. where in rwc? i only know of one alley. by whipple? they probably have the area blocked to keep innocent people away so they don't get hurt. i am sure your brother is fine.

Don't worry. With all those cops around you are probably safer than normal!
Put on your ipod or something and just try to think about something else. You will drift off eventaully.

I would meditate if I were you. Just quiet things down around the house and chill out. If you are worried about the shooter still running around, don't. The police will most likely have surveillance around your neighborhood all night. If you can, call a buddy over and watch a movie or something to take your mind off of it, it will probably make you feel safer with a friend there as well. Hope this helps.

Well ia m so sorry that that happened but u know like forget everything happened try not to stay in your bed if you can't sleep like for 15 min then read some books or magazines open tv but don't saty more than 10 min then try to go o bathroom that sounds weird but do it then if u can't sleep imagine everything happened and imagine that u r all fine and that u r sleepin and that u love er bed u know positive things ok hope that will help ya i am a 9 grader gurl but i know some tips

I don't think I'd try to sleep just yet.

Can you call your brother? Does he have a cell? Then at least you can put that worry out of your mind.

It sounds like you aren't home alone - stay with they people who are with you. You should be fine (keep the doors/windows locked and closed) and try not to worry.

Make some hot tea or hot milk w/honey if you have any (add sugar if you don't) that will help you relax. Leave a light on when you go to sleep tonight (kitchen or livingroom) so if you do wake up later in the night, your feel a little safer. Also sleep with a night light to night, if you don't have one then leave the hallway light on and leave your bedroom door ajar.
Put on a soft light jazz radio station, that might to help you sleep, and take your mind off of the whole thing.

Just as people are fond of saying, "This kind of thing just never happens here...it's so shocking" it is sadly a part of life, especially throughout California, that indeed it does. Now, the main thing to bear in mind is this was probably a botched robbery and if they have one suspect, they're off to a good start. Perhaps your brother was on his way to the house, saw all the commotion and using good sense has stayed away until things clear up. I would, definitely. As for sleeping, well, try your best and know that you'd be abnormal if it didn't affect you to some degree, including a restless night. Hang in there; I've been a Californian for 47 years and have seen a lot that is very unsettling.

If the police are looking around your neighborhood, then you know your safe. The police have it taken care of. Lock the doors and windows, play some music, watch some TV, make sure you have your phone close by, and you'll be fine. Odds are the person who commited the shooting is not going to stick around the neighborhood...they are probably miles gone by now. In the mean time, concentrate on contacting your brother.

well, you might feel better going to stay with a family member.

the last time that happened to us, (shooting in the building next door to us, I ended up on the porch to my house firing back at one of the guys, who tried to hide in the bushes in my yard.

I managed to hold him there, while police snagged another down the block and the third got away. I stood guard for the rest of the night holding a G91out on the porch, which did a lot to calm down my sister, and her friends. Helped some of the neighbors too, knowing that they had someone who could help in a situation like that.

dunno if you have a guy there, but maybe all of you should sleep in the same room, kinda hang out together and talk about it or something. It might help.

I can understand your fear and if you are that scared maybe you should consider moving to somewhere where its generaly safer to live. If an incident like that would have happened in England where i live it would have been the lead story on the national news but im guessing it barely gets a mention in your local press. Move to Canada......half the country dont even have to lock their doors at night there because its so safe. I hope you will be ok.

That is horrible. I know the feeling of having people shooting and being around your area or whatnot. I hope that your brother was NOT involved and that he is okay and just out having a good time. I think that you should say a prayer and do what it is that relaxes you when you are stressed or can't sleep. Do you usually watching t.v. and fall asleep to it with the sleep timer on? (I do that a lot) Take a warm bath and try to think happy thoughts...etc. I don't know what it is that you like to do or what may work for you expect that prayer works for everyone!! God bless you and yours and I hope you can have a peace of mind and your brother comes home safely!!

Awww, I'm sorry hun, I know that would be scary! Sleep together for tonight, things will look brighter in the morning. Take some benedryl or NyQuill to knock you out. If it is a bad neighboorhood, relocate. Just don't go outside for any reason and make sure your animals are safe inside doors and windows locked with all the shades pulled down. The cops will probably really be patrolling your neighborhood tonight closely anyway.

If you are alone, Try and get your brother on his Cell phone. See that all your doors and windows are locked. And go to your room and lock.
To make you feel safer, take a long kitchen knife or a blunt instrument. And go upto your bedroom and lock the door if possible. Have your own cellphone charged, with the 911 up and ready to be pushed immediatly, should anything happen. Sounds heavey, but this is life.

Then DON'T worry too much, because if the police are all around, you will have instant access to them through 911. Don't panic, and let fear get a hold. And just pray for God's protection, if you pray.

alright, try not to worry too much. um, to make you sleep in something like this you could just listen to music and just fall asleep. or you can think heavily on something or a lot of things to keep your mind off of what is happening around you. thats what i do sometimes when i can't really fall asleep due to stuff that keep me up all night. HOPE THIS HELPS
