LA has a lot of the touristy stuff like Disneyland, Universal Studios, and Beverly Hills. You could also drive down to San Diego, it's only like 2 hours, and check out their zoo and Sea World. San Diego has some really nice beaches.
The San Francisco area is nice too with the Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, and cable cars. I think the food is a lot better in San Francisco. But you kind of have to choose between the LA and SF since they're so far apart unless you're going to fly to both of them. I really don't think you want to drive since that's like a 4 hours drive. |

I was born and raised in L.A. I still live here. I have been to San Diego, and San Francisco, Believe me, I have been trying to move to another country but nothing compares to the weather in Los Angeles. This is the only reason why I am still here. San Diego is nice but gets really cold. San Fransisco is also extremely cold and small. L.A. has plenty of things to do, places to see and people to meet. Good times. |

Well, Southern CA has Disney, Knotts, Magic Mountain, Raging Waters, Dinner Theaters, zoos, Beverly Hills, etc.....
northern has Napa Valley, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (formerly Marine World), Downtown Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Great America, Winchester Mystery House, zoos, water parks, etc.
Why did you choose CA. And what are you looking to do there? |

Southern California is a great place-we've had many things happen this year like the fires etc but its still beautiful. Check out Newport beach/Balboa Pennesula-its where the surf is and the "boardwalk is fun and the Fun Zone at Balboa is great. Eat at Ruby's at the end of the pier and take a harbor tour too. Go to Costa Mesa Marketplace (swapmeet) its the largest I've ever seen and is every weekend at the OC fairgrounds right where the 55 fwy hits Newport Blvd. 6AM to about 4:30. It takes about 3 hours just to walk and the wierd and the beautiful of OC are there-in the summer usually in shorts and bikini tops etc. Everything from jewery to furniture to clothes to trinkets-get bagels from the guys on the last row! Costa Mesa is better than Anaheim, you are by Disney and Knotts etc but also the beach. Not as "seedy". Check South Coast Plaza lodging. Huntington beach-a short drive up the coast hwy from Newport etc. is the origional surf town of the beach Boys etc. The bars and stores around the pier are cool. They often have bands playing on the sands and volleyball tournaments etc. Going South of this area is San Diego with the harbor and zoo and seaworld etc. Going south East is Temecula with its great Old Town and wine area with wineries.....All these places have city sites with photos and things to do. You can also p/u a boat to Catalina Island in the harbor and have a day.... Down in San Diego you can take surfing lessons and I'm sure in Huntington as well. They have the surfer museum there too. Have fun-good luck and don't stress the freeways-just aviod "going to work and home" times-locals will happily give you the lowdown on that. |

Seaport Village in San Diego
Downtown San Diego
Fish Market Restaurant in Los Alamitos
Six Flags Mountain , somewhere in Ventura
Downtown Los Angeles
Convention Center in Los Angeles- depending on the exhibit that you can look up on the weekend you're coming
Staple Center- you may buy tickets- shows from basketball through ice skating
Convention Center in Anahiem - depending on the exhibit that you can look up on the weekend you're coming
Wild Animal Park is highly recommended (in San Diego)
And definitely you got to spend a day in Beverly Hills!
Many more things to do here that you cannot imagine! |

If you plan to stay near L.A. then yeah there is disneyland, universal studios, hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice Beach (for crazy people watching and shopping) the Getty Museum is worth a visit if you like art. The building itself is super cool.
There is also a Six Flags nearby

Personally...I prefer San Francisco. It is a beautiful city (rough around the edges, but charming in it's own way) with a lot of cool stuff to do..like Golden Gate Park, Chinatown, Cable cars. etc.
But you have to do the L.A thing once I guess!
Have fun! |

The One That Got Away

Stay in the Anaheim area... it's close to Buena park, too, which is where Knott's Berry Farm is, the Hollywood Wax Museum, Medieval Times and Pirate adventure dinner show (both highly recommended), and the Ripley's Believe it or not Museum
Anaheim, of course, is where Disneyland is. Most hotels have free shuttles that will take you back and forth to the theme parks |

Southern California has Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, haha, yes, Disneyland and Disneyland California Adventures, and Wild Rivers.
If you're coming during the summer, go to a beach and bring tank tops and shorts. The weather is extreme sometimes.
I'd definitely recommend going to South Coast Plaza. It's expensive, but it's SO much fun to go through. In Calabasas is a small plaza called "The Commons" with a movie theater and a few fun lil' stores... |

Go all over :) disney and stuff like that is down south, I would suggest staying down near LA there is so much to do down there and the beaches are nicer by san diego/san jose also. It's great over there, but don't miss travelling to san francisco and stuff also. It's so beautiful.

Santa Cruz beach boardwalk is great. (it's in Santa Cruz:D)
you get to hang out on the beach and then do rides, also at night you can do bon fires-- there is also a place called "The Mystery Spot (it's not on the boardwalk but it's in the city) where balls roll uphill, and they will have you and a friend both stand on 2 level marks on the ground to see who ia taller, and when you switch the other person is taller. you will not be dissapointed! |

Down south, the San Diego Zoo is a must see. The north has of course San Francisco( great city), the Napa Valley wine country, Lake Tahoe( great snow skiing) and six flags in Vallejo. Just have a great time and bring sun screen. |
