Blame it on the "Pineapple Express" - a current that comes from the vicinity of Hawaii to the area of Washington and Oregon. As soon as that moisture-laden air starts to get pushed up the slopes of the Cascades, the air cools, and it can't hold onto the water it's carrying - so there's tons of rain. As to when it will go away - probably it will slow down around March or April (spring is GORGEOUS here); until then - develop indoor interests, and go outside whenever you can when we have a "sun break." Some folks, myself included, use full-spectrum lights in their homes to help keep away the winter blues. |

It has to do with the geography - the lattitude, ocean, mountains, and temperature - and larger global pressure and jet stream patterns.
How to tell the weather in Seattle -
Look toward Mount Ranier . . . if you can't see it, it's raining.
If you can see it, it's going to rain soon. |

It's because of the Pinapple Express. The Pinapple Express is a movement of either hot or cold air(not exactly sure) moving up from the Hawaiian Tropics towards the area of oregon and washington. It just keeps on rotating around. But don't worry - it'll end soon. |

I agree with Lisa that we had an extremely dry summer, so maybe we're just making up for that. Also, maybe it has something to do with global warming. And we had those 29 or 30 consecutive days of rain, which was a real drag. It doesn't flood everywhere, just low places that are next to the rivers and in clogged city streets. The rain usually lasts from October until about April. :) |

The Rain comes from Hawaii - it is called "The Pineapple Express" and it keeps us warm. |

Seattle is among the most difficult areas in the world when it comes to forecasting weather.
Out of necessity, Satellites grow accustomed to the frequent rain showers. You must look at the silver lining and recall that when it rains in Seattle, it snows in the slopes! |

We had a gorgeous, dry summer.... this is just what happens. Last winter it rained for 30+ days straight... talk about depressing! |

Well the rain comes from Hawaii and the warm weather. Then the colder stuff that brings snow and scattered showers comes from Alaska. The reason now why the mt. are getting so much snow that the system ran into some of the cold air from Alaska otherwise it would just rain in the mt. |

There is an indian reservation close to Seatle. They, often do a rain dance.
It is payback for Americans taking Indian territory. |

No one really knows the answer to that, but I used to live in Seattle and it rained non-stop there for three months-not hard rain, but non-stop constant drizzle. I live in Southern Ca. now. |
