Waht city should I move to? Philly, Boston, or Asheville NC?

I wouldn't be moving until July of next year. I'm 24, out of college and ready for a change Phily is my front runner but I would like to hear pros and cons on all three. Thanks in advance.

I'm from just south of Boston. Boston has a great nightlife, an interesting history, and some awesome colleges to pursue higher degrees. It is, however, very expensive and very cold in the winter.

Philly is a larger city with a similarly interesting heritage and I'm sure the nightlife is just as good as Boston. Also expensive and cold. The biggest difference between Philly and Boston (other than sports teams) is really the accent and the lack of the Masshole quality.

NC is beautiful and the weather is not too harsh in winter or summer. I don't know how expensive it is, but I bet it's not as bad as Boston.

That depends on what you are looking for. I was born and raised in the phila sub-urbs so obviously I would say it is the best place in the world... and I can't wait to move back... NYC is only 1.5 hours away the beach is 1 hour away and the mountains are 1 hour away... I have always thought of Philly as a small hug-able NYC...

Asheville I have never spent a significant amount of time in, though I know it is gorgeous... slightly warmer... more nature/less city more hippy/less hipster...

Boston is also a fantastic city, but it is much colder and usually frozen solid for 3 months straight... well, all 3 of your picks are pretty cold (i moved down south for the last three years... so my personal cold-tolerance is off)

Asheville would be the cheapest cost of living minus, housing..

Philly and Boston are pretty comparable... Philly is slightly more blue-collar than Boston, and Boston has a more academic feel, considerring large parts of the city are almost entirely populated by college kids...

so... i guess that doesn't help much.... so.... philly of course...

It all depends on what type of life you are looking for. I would say that Asheville is probably better as far as weather goes. You get a lot of snow in Boston and Philly. I live near Boston and the cost of living is outrageous. However, I know a few people that live in Boston and they do fine. (Of course they have about 8 people sharing an apartment...) Boston does have some great night life, and culture.

I can't speak for the other two cities of your choice, but like I said, Boston can be nasty in the winter. Good luck in your decision making.

BOSTON!

The best city (and the most expensive out of all three by far, so unless you have a great job waiting for you there or you can guarantee you can get a great paying job), don't move.

As for the weather, you'll get use to it.

Boston, Massachusetts, USA, which is nicknamed "The Athens of America"

I would stay away from Philly, it's not the place to be, crime etc. are rampid. Boston is better, a large city, less crime, good employment opportunity's. Asheville I know nothing about, but southern cities tend to be more safer crime wise and more down home like, but not sure about the employment.
If possible, it would be best to visit each one and check them out before making a blind decision.

Asheville definitly

personally I would go for a smaller town out of the three. that's just me though. then again, you might want a place with more job oppurtunities. ha man I'm not a help at all. sorry.

ShouldBeWorking
Well, I love Boston. But, regardlessof what anyone says you should visit all three places for a few days and see what you like the best. Also, write down financial what will make the most sense. A combination of those two things really will make your decision for you!

I originally was born and grew up in South Florida (South of Miami). I bring this up so you know that I am not a native die hard Bostonian.

Out of all three... I would choose Boston. Boston is near the sea, as is NC. But Boston has character and history. The crime is not as nearly as bad as philly. I live South of Boston in the suburbs. And for instance this weekend I am going into Boston on the train to see a show. All the biggest musical acts come to Boston. No matter who it is... Philly and Asheville can't say the same. We have the World Series Winning Boston Red Sox. Going to a game is like nothing you've been to before. There is more to do here, than I ever did in South Florida. Just so you know. Good Luck in your decision making.

It really depends on where you would like your career to go. First look for local job markets, then check what its going to cost to live there (flats and appartments in Philly have been becoming very expensive lately).
I lived in Philly for years however have a hard time recommending living in center city especially when philly has such a great urban feeling suburban area. I'd look into conshohocken and the surrounding towns as well. Its safer prettier cheaper and still close enough to south street to party.

Captain Trips
Forget about Asheville, NC. What the hell is there to do there?
