Go and don't worry about hurricanes. Most hurricanes form so far away from that part of Florida, you'll have plenty of advance notice to evacuate the area. It's a rare storm that even GETS that far or into that part of Florida.

If you've got the tickets, the rest is relatively inexpensive, as long as you have Park Hopper passes. Park hopper passes cover ALL transportation inside the park (monorails, boats, buses). To save on food, eat only at the "fast-food" places (avoid the sit-down restaurants).

Plan on doing a LOT of walking inside the parks, so wear comfortable shoes and dress like you're going to Tahiti, because the heat and humidity will get you before lunchtime.

Here's a neat little insider-tidbit that a 6-year-old should like: When you're going on the monorails, tell one of the attendants on the platform that you want to ride up front. It's the BEST place to sit on the monorails and few people know that all you have to do is ASK.

I grew up in that part of Florida and Disney World is the ONLY part I gladly go back to whenever possible.

disney never really gets hit by the hurricanes i must say. and if they do get it, it is never alot or very mnimum. they sometimes just get sme rain but it never lasts long, and they sometimes get some leaves in the roads, but the amazing people at disney clean it up all night and it is clean again the next day. go, because if you don't you will lose, and disney will get your money, an you won't get what you paid for. ihave been there during this, and you have nothing to fear.

You should definitely take advantage of your Tickets to Disney World. Since you have 90 days to use them, I would suggest to go a couple weeks after labor day in September or early October. That is the "low season" at Disney, making the parks even more enjoyable! I would recommend staying at one of Disney's Value Resorts. The rooms start at just $82 dollars a night, which is very good considering the amount of services you get. Transportation is provided to all the parks and you will be awarded with extra magic hours at the park, making it even more worth it to stay at one of the Disney Resorts. With a six year old, I would recommend getting to the park right when it opens. Getting through as many rides as you can. They when he or she gets tired take him/her back to the hotel room for a nap. Then go back to the park in the evening when it is less crowded! Look for the Disney Dream Team wherever you are! They wear blue shirts and blue shorts. They usually have a black bag with them as well! They are giving out prizes for the year of a million dreams. They are even rewarding Disney Resort Guests with a Night Stay the the Cinderella castle. If you decide to embark on a monorail ride, ask the attendant to sit in the front of the monorail. You will be honorary drivers and learn some new facts about the monorail system(plus the view is amazing!). Don't miss out on the new Finding Nemo ride in Walt Disney Worlds Epcot theme park. It is fascinating. Have a great time! Lines should be perfect and crowds low. Also remember to go to a Disney Character breakfast. You must make Dining Reservations up to 180 days in advance. Another way to cut costs is using Disney's dining plan. It is super easy and provides you with big meals every day that are at a great price. Call Disney for details!

I was in Disney one year when there was a hurricane and all it was, was a lot of rain. But it really doesn't get that bad. I would definitly suggest taking the 6 year old to Cinderella's royal table they do breakfast and dinner. I went with my 5 year old cousin one year and the atmosphere is amazing it is definitly worth going. You get a free picture with Cinderella and a wishing star and so much more. Hope this helped.

I'm from Florida and this is hurricane season. However, we not get any at all. One never knows. It is in the mid 90s here and very humid. Disney World is almost all blacktop and hotter than hades so you will need to keep that in mind. They do have stroller rentals for little children although I'm not sure a six year old would appreciate that.

If you can afford it, staying at their hotel/motel is a great convenience and you can just hop on the train and go over to the park whenever you want. However, some of the nearby motels also have shuttle service. Less expensive accommodations are available further away from the park but you would need to rent a car. Haven't been there in years. Too many tourists. :-)

I think it would be perfectly fine to go during hurricane season. Orlando is rarely affected by Hurricanes. Here are some links to a ton of Disney information and park reviews.

It is fine to go in hurricane season. Walt Disney World had never been hit by a hurricane. My family and I were down there during a Tropical Storm. All it really did was rain and rain and rain some more but the sun came out after about 3 hrs. of raining and the day was fine. You are in some of the safest buildings. I say it would be fine to go.

I've had friends that were down there during a hurricane. They closed the parks for a day. Plus, they had to evacuate the All Star Music hotel because the hurricane (from what I heard) flushed some alligators out of the swamp and they were walking the grounds there....

And by sheer coincidence (or is it) September is one of the 'value' months (the others being in the winter when there is a risk of a cold spell)...

I've been there late September once. VERY HOT.

But if you have tickets, definitely use them. Room prices go back up at the start of October a bit on property, but there is always cheaper stuff off property. October & November are IMHO the best months to go (Food & Wine Festival in Epcot). Go in early Oct if the budget allows.

It would be stupid not to go. If you are worried, plan to use the tickets as far out as you can (90 days would be into October, and hurricanes are usually done by then). October is also a less crowded time of year for Disney, so you can have shorter lines at the parks. It will still be in the mid to high 80s, hot enough for swimming, but not as hot as it is now!

You'll want a Value resort - they go as low as $80 a night. By staying on Disney property, you can book a package with a room and park tickets, and that will save you more money. You will be able to use Disney transporation while on property, as well as Disney's Magical Express, which will pick you up from the airport and bring you to your resort, and bring you back to the airport - for free. It is ONLY available to Disney resort guests. Another perk is Extra Magic Hours, the ability for resort guests only to enter the parks early and stay late on select days.

You should check www.allearsnet.com for info on resorts and parks. I would recommend All Star Movies or Music for you and a 6 year old. The rooms are small, but plenty of room for you and a child, and the theming is bright and entertaining for a kid. You can book directly through disneyworld.com, or you can call Disney directly. You can also call a travel agent, they do not charge a fee for booking your trip, and are also aware of discount codes that you might be eligible for. I can recommend Kingdom Konsultants, www.kingdomkonsultants.com. They are Disney specialized travel agents, and can help you along every step of the way, even giving you a free itinerary.

Contact me through Yahoo! Answers if you'd like more info.

cool i would just go

It would be stupid not to go. Disney world is in the center of Florida, the hurricanes damage towns on the coasts. Dont worry about it.

Mr. P's Person
I would go. It would affect the flight if you were due to fly through the hurricane for sure, but you would be redirected or grounded. They don;t fly planes through hurricanes. As others have said Orlando rarely gets hit by hurricanes anyway.

I have been to WDW many times. It's always awesome. You and your child will have a great time. It was a dream of mine as a kid to go. I was 29 before I made it the first time. (brought up in foster homes and there was never a chance of it as a kid) I admit I cried the first time I saw the parard. (You ahve to see it!)

This link is really good when you are working on a budget

Forget about hurricanes. Just take loads of sun screen and hav an amazing time. Say "Hi" to Mickey and Mini for me!

It's fine. WDW is located toward the middle of the state on I-4, which is usually sheltered from the brunt of hurricanes. Its only closed a few times for hurricanes. Also, summer is their busy months. I never thought about planning a trip around hurricane season. If it happens, it happens. You should be fine.

Disney has a value hotel (the All Stars). And you can plan packages from their webpage. I would recommend staying in "the World." I know people say it is more expensive, but there are benefits and you will only save a few bucks here and there if you stay in Kissimmee or at other hotels in Orlando. First, Disney will pick you and your luggage up at the airport. Second, if you are only going to Disney all of your transportation is provided for. You can get anywhere in the world on their transportation system (boats, buses, and the monorail). Third, Disney hotels offer mugs. They are $10. And you can fill them up as much as you want within the hotel. You will still have to pay for drinks at the park (drink LOTS of water .... that's the biggest thing for tourist not used to the Florida sun), but it does cut down the price while at the hotel. Fourth, with their budge hotels, you can still get some benefits such as early park times, fireworks, etc.

It's a little pricey, but Character meals are great! All the parks and most of the hotels have them. I think breakfast is cheaper than the rest of the meals.

Another thing is to get the tickets that save your place in line for popular rides.

Enjoy your trip! Taking children when they are 5 and 6 is the perfect time!
