Walt Disney World Resort?

We are going to walt disney world resort next week for our summer holidays, but the travel agents has phoned us to inform us that there is building work going on in the resort and ask us if we want to cancel or not. As the children are very exited we are unsure as to what to do. whether to go to the resort or change to a hotel outside of the resort. If anybody has been recently could you please tell us if the resort is still ok or if there is alot of building work. Your advised would be much appreciated as the children really want to stay in the resort, but not if there is alot of building work.

Book the resort anyway. If there are no other on site resorts that have vacancy, stay at your original resort. The inconvienience of the construction is not as bad as the inconvienience of staying off site. If you stay at the resort you still get all of the perks and privilages of the Disney resorts, if you move off site you don't. Plus, having stayed at a resort before that was under refurbishment, I know that Disney makes every effort to make your stay as enjoyable as if there was no construction.

I am a bit perplexed as to why your travel agent would ask if you wanted to cancel. The WDW resort is huge with many, many different hotels to stay in. The travel agent should simply have offered to move you to a different hotel. Staying inside the resort definitely has its advantages. You have free transportation to anywhere in the resort, you get to enter the parks an hour earlier than others staying outside, and if you buy souviners, you can have them shipped directly to your room without lugging them around all day.
The amount of time you spend in your hotel will be minimal with the amount of things you will want to do. I would not worry too much about the construction. Disney has always done things top-notch, and I doubt things would be that bad.
Have a great time!!!

I would book anyways. The resort is just for sleeping anyway, right? Most of your time will be in the parks!!

You could also transfer to sifferent resort - they have MANY resorts at WDW.

Have Fun!!!

Which resort?
I know that there is some construction going on at animal Kingdom lodge because of some vacation club rooms.
I also know that there is some construction going on at the comtempory. Also for Vacation Club. I don't think that you need to cancel now, unless your kids will be bothered by all the noise.

Don't go to another resort that is off disney property! You get more special things if you stay on property. You could try a different disney resort if you think that you will really be bothered by it. Don't let it make your magical trip crash.

If you could, put the name of the resort down under more information and then I might be able to give you more information.

Otherwise, have a safe, fun, and truly magical trip!

If you are booked at a Disney resort call that resort and ask question yourself. I was suppose to stay at the AKL last year. They told me there was construction going on but not at night or early morning. So they are working while you are at the parks during the day. I would stay at the same resort. Or change resort, (there a a lot of disney world resorts) but stay in Disney. DO NOT stay outside the park. Way too many headaches. Getting to and from the parks is very time consuming outside a disney resort.

Not sure which resort you are staying at so..

Disney's Contemporary and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge are both building DVC (Disney Vacation Club) areas that are right next to each resort.

Work is done in the day time not in early morning or night time.

Disney's Caribbean Beach resort's main pool is under refurb right now. They do have 6 other smaller pools and are adding temp slides at two of the other pools. (The two closet to the main area of the resort)

Depending on what resorts you are flexable with and what resorts are open...changing should not be an issue.

iwould choose to stay i like the disney world resorts because theyre clean and safe

Does the travel agent mean that there is building work going on at the hotel you have chosen on the Disneyworld lot or do they mean there is building work going on in the general Disney world area ?

I was there 2 weeks ago and didn't notice anything other that Ghiradelli's in Downtown was closed for remodelling (it's open now ...)

If they mean just the general area then don't worry about it - you won't be long enough in one place to notice it.

If there is building work going on in your Disney hotel then I wouldn't worry about that either - it's not like they are going to be building in the evenings or night time when you are likely to be disturbed.

Try to find out exactly what they mean by this building work ... if you are likely to be disturbed or the pool is out of action or something they can just move you to a different Disney resort hotel surely ?

Don't change to a hotel outside Disney world and definitely don't cancel. Have a great trip ...and an extra go on Splash Mountain for me !

I would suggest the Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa you can even get an apartment like room and the kids can have their own beds, tv, and bathroom, it is quite exciting. have fun

definatly stay on property---try to move to a different disney hotel

Dani T
well i havn't gone recently but they never do alot at i time they do it bit by bit so there's never alot the hotel's arn't to close to the tings that will be worked on, and it's so much better being in the hotel in disney i'd stay in that hotel if i was you
or if your realy woried go to a different hotel if it is near the hotel cause there usaly quite far apart (the hotels)

Smiley
Don't cancel. They should be able to offer you another room at a different resort if you are concerned. As others have said, you are there for the parks. The rooms are for sleeping.

Disney will take care of you. Don't stay outside of Disney World...too many benefits for staying on property.

We just got back on the 5th and heard no complaints about work being done.

I highly recommend Port Orleans Riverside. It is a moderate resort, which means it is not the cheapest or the most expensive place to stay. The grounds are gorgeous, and you can take a boat to Downtown Disney. Also, at this resort, you have access to a terrific foodcourt at the Sawmill and a nice casual dining restaurant (Boatwrights). Not to mention, you have a choice of using the main pools at Riverside or French Quarter.

Go any way!! Disney is VERY good about only doing small parts at a time, and they are also good about having other options open for the closed area. I've been going to Disney for the past 15 yrs of my life and I've seen plenty of construction and Disney is very very very good about making sure they compensate for the closed off area, plus Disney is so big that it won't make a big difference. I'm not sure where your staying but I know the Caribbean is renovating one of the pools right now BUT they have several other pools at the resort to use so it's not a big deal. I also know the Animal Kingdom lodge is doing work on the Villas but that won't effect the guests.

15 yrs of Disney Trips under my belt!

Mal
i would go anyways

Do it for Johnny! (Maddie)
Book anyways, staying off-site is not nearly the same.

Andrew M
Which resort? Contemporary, Caribbean Beah, and Animal Kingdom Lodge are ALL under construction at this time! If Caribbean, don't go, the pool i sunder construction and you will need down time at the pool if you have young kids (they can't take the constant hustle and bustle). If Contemporary, I wouldn't mind it, but loud noise may be a factor. If Animal Kingdom Lodge, go. The construction is not near most of the rooms.

Have fun!

I live an hour and a half away. We were there two weeks ago. It's still okay to go , but it is expen$ive to stay on the property. there are nice hotels within walking distance and there are Disney trolleys that pick you up.

Have a great time!
