I would say North Carolina, Colorado or New Mexico. My favorite would probably be the area between Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico or the area around the Ghost Ranch in NM. In Colorado it's Aspen or Durango and in North Carolina it's Asheville or Ocracoke Island!
Can't go wrong in any of these places!!

New York has the largest state park in the US east of the Mississippi: the Adirondacks. It is 6 million acres big! We also have NYC, the ocean, Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes, the list goes on and on. We have great universities, jobs, friendly people. What more could you ask for?

Vermont or Massachusets! Bother extremely nice states! Just not Illinois! I hated it!

Stimpson J. Cat
Don't come to Florida. We've already got enough people.

Although Missouri is the biggest meth lab state, it's gorgeous in parts.

Just don't move to the "trashy" areas. I'd look into living in the country somewhere, with creaks and trees.
