Well, I must say that you will be in for a shock when you have to look around to see mostly dry desert instead of the greenery you have in Oregon. It get's really hot here also. I would stay in the northern portion of AZ if you did move. The climate there is less harsh. Funny thing is I have actually daydreamed of moving to Oregon. The grass is always greener on the other side (except in AZ - there isn't any. Ha Ha)

I think it would depend on why you are moving. Are you prepared to deal with what it takes to move to a new place, finding a job, home, new friends, etc.? I think you need to really think about what the move will require of you, and then go from there.

pugs5678
no wages are low here and its hot with not much seasons I would stay there nicer

NO NO NO N O
stay in the northwest territory. AZ is a pit. A frickin dirty pit full of stupid people. I wish I could afford to move somewhere else.

NO
It's too hot. (most of the time)

Its always best to visit a place several times, different times of the year before moving somewhere. Arizona climate differs depending on where you choose to live but most of it is hotter and drier than Oregon, thats for sure.

If you are getting out of debt (cheaper housing) than that may be a good idea but not always. I'm sure you'll find the people differ as well.

Lots depend on the reason for your move.

It would be a good move I love it here.

I want to tell you that it is a smart move. People say its so hot, (which in the SUMMER time it is) but its not humid its just warm. Just think only about 2-3 months it will be hot and the rest will be perfect 60s and 70s and they are famous for their sunsets. If you have kids or are going to the school system is really stronger for the most part.

go to reality executives/Arizona on a yahoo search to a website called search home.com (their is more then one website called that so that's why you have to do that) It has GREAT listings

also its a buyers market right know so homes are cheaper.

NO! Don't do it! I live in Phoenix, and have my whole life. That is the one thing in my life I would change if I could. The schools are rated 49th in the country. The weather is terriable starts in the ninety in march, It doesnt start cooling off till Oct. that is the end. If you move the norther part there is a huge job shortage, and cost are high. Good Luck

It just depends what you are ready for. Personaly, I would not choose to live there mostly because of the heat. I lived there over the summer and I just got sick of having be inside all day long because its 120 degrees outside and it doesnt rain for a long time. Phoenix is not a bad area. Someone above said that the population is 5 million or even 10 million. That is very false info. The entire population of Arizona is about 5.5 million with about 1.5 being in the actual city of Phoenix and that is simply because Phoenix itself is a large city. You can live in PHX and live in the country so they kind of cheat with their population. In the metro area I believe there is 3-4 million in all. The diversity isnt all that great there which is what i love about big cities but its ok. Its mostly Germans and hispanics.

Hope some of that helped.

Dols
that depends on "where" in AZ you are considering moving to. Phoenix metro area [Phx, plus surrounding communities] has more than five million people, maybe ten. It is a very unsafe area to live. If the heat doesn't get you, the people will. People are not nice there like they are in Oregon. Your skin and hair dries out and you look old before your time. That's not even counting all the other negative things I can remember from when I lived there. Do you like scorpions and killer bees? they have them. This is a very hostile invironment. The mountains in AZ are nice, you would like that. Hope you research it well, before considering it. And if you are moving to Phoenix, stay out of South Phoenix, very dangerous. Be careful. It's very different there. Just subscribe to their newspaper, then you'll get an idea of what's going on in the community where you're planning to go.
