.Holly.Duck.

We are going on vacation to Cali, what should we do?

Me and my husband are planning a trip to Cali in May but we aren't sure what we should do. We want to go to the beach,to six flags, universal studios, sea world but aren't they all kinda far apart? Anyway any help would be great. Thanks!

Oh also, we are driving from Utah so we'll have a car and our budget is about $2000

in San dago there is a bad a$$ zoo and there is all of the u.s. war ships .....and in San Fransisco there is the Golden gate bridge and pier 39 and Alcatraz ....it just depends where you are going

Shop, shop and shop, then go to a really nice restaurant and eat, walk around in Hollywood and do some window shopping and go to the beach and just enjoy each other.

Supermatt100
Six Flags, Universal Studios, and the beach (Santa Monica) are all in or around the LA area, and are no more than a 45 minute drive from each other. Sea World, on the other hand, is kind of far away from everything else. It's in San Diego, and that's probably a three hour drive from LA. It might be worth it if you don't mind driving that far (you've already driven from Utah). Also, the Getty Museum is around LA, nearby the rest of those. Disneyland is about an hour drive from LA. Except for Sea World, everything is relatively close to each other.

make a pit stop in las vegas and bet on the chargers and take the 15 points..after that you'll have 4 thousand dollars.

cris
yeah six flags and universal are like 35 mins apart ...sea world is in san diego...if ur just panning on socal i would defanitelry go to disneyland and california adventure too, six flags is good but universal is kinda boring....if anyhting i think you should just go clubiing

ps dont go to hollywood ..esp. hollywood blvd.

kaosktrl
Go to Utah its nicer.

Katie
Well those sound great, however I would say to switch universal studios with Disneyland, it's much better. six flags is closer to Disneyland, but sea world is about 2 to 3 hours from Disneyland and the L.A. area. However, the beach is nice, I suggest, Balboa, Huntington , or Newport beaches. Balboa has fire pits if you want a bonfire. Some other things, you could go to Hollywood, and check out the walk of fame, the Chinese Theater, and the Wax museam in Hollywood is really cool. There are also some great bus tours and some great restaurants in Hollywood. You could go to a sporting event at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, or the Home Depot center, google them and there should be some info. Have fun.

How much time will you be spending here? I live in California my whole life.

Universal Studios and Sea World are really not that far apart. Sea World is San Diego and Universal is Los Angeles. 2 hours max. Don't miss the zoo while in San Diego! also San Diego has the best beaches. Go to Old Town while in San Diego and have lunch there. Old Town is near the zoo and the beach.

You can try to get tickets for some TV shows in Burbank. Send off for them ahead of time. It's free to be in the TV audience and sometimes you can win prizes. Burbank is in Los Angeles.

Google the Universal Studios Amphitheater and see who will be playing there when you are in the area. They have great concerts there and you can order tickets on-line.

Above all...HAVE FUN!!!

britney_sprint
go do all the site seeing! found out what most tourist like to do and go do that

CaliGirl
None of the mentioned places are more than 2-3 hours apart. The beach and Sea World are within minutes of each other. Very doable if you have a few days here.

A few recommendations for the lower half-

Be careful of CityWalk. You walk through it before ever getting to Universal Studios and you may get sucked in and never get to your intended location. =)
Santa Monica is a fun beach to walk down. Lots of activity.
La Jolla (pronounced La Hoya and in San Diego) is a BEAUTIFUL beach and La Jolla Village is a great destination to visit.
Do you have passports? You may consider visiting Mexico while you're at it. Only a 45 minute drive from San Diego.

A Few Recommendations for the Upper-ish Half -

I live in San Diego, so these are harder to come by. Anyhow, San Fransisco is one of Cali's best cities. I love it! So much to see, do, and taste. =)
I'm also a HUGE fan of Yosemite, but that would require more than a days stay to make it worth while.
You could also consider driving through the Red Woods. Absolutely beautiful!

Whatever your final decision, I hope you two have a blast!!!

BigBoss
watch for your backs and bags, there's al lot, i mean, aA LOT, of hoodlums around cali...

johnnymmcbride
Just stay away from the Hollywood area. Each time I visited the area it was dirty and not at all like it appears on TV or in the movies. The walk of fame is only good for like 5 mins and the Chinese Theater is only good for another 5. Just buy a postcard and visit the other areas recommended below. Especially San Diego's Zoo. That rocks!!

Huntington Beach is always great for a nice relaxing day, especially to people watch and enjoy the sounds of the beach.

Gas alone will take a good part of your budget if you did not plan for the higher gas costs in Cali if you decide to drive everywhere!

martha p
you should get the address of a hotel where you are going to stay and goggle how to get to places from there they are not really to far probably like in hour or so i lived there and i when to all does places we drove from Cali to mas it was fun your going to have lots of fun i love Cali i want to go back there a lot of staff to do in Cali there is also San Diego zoo , San Diego wild animal park, notts

Go to Mission Beach in San Diego and hang out with the hobos.

Garlicman
First, get the name right: California.

Next, what do you enjoy doing? No children? The beach is lame, IMHO, but you are from Utah, so it might be interesting to you.

Sea World is in the San Diego area, and the other things you mention are in the Los Angeles area. These areas are a couple of hours apart. You don't tell your route of travel. If you take I-80 west, you'll go through San Francisco and can go to Chinatown, Pier 39, go over the Golden Gate Bridge, and lots more. Even see where the Mormons landed in Yerba Buena (the original name of San Francisco when the Mormons got there).

When you are in L.A., I highly recommend the La Brea Tar Pits. The park is free, although parking has a modest fee. The museum is superb.

Try to get tickets to the Tonight Show or the Price is Right or something like that. Lots of fun!

No Disneyland?

There is always Legoland and Knott's Berry Farm.

The San Fernando Mission is good too. They have nice gardens, huge avacodo trees, and lots of stuff. I think they request a modest donation.
