May is a great month to visit Boston. Definitely walk the Freedom Trail (a lot of the historic sites are along there). That will take most of a full day. Go on a day when the weather's nice because it's a lot of walking. Don't worry - they won't think you are trying to invade America. Eat dinner in the North End, Boston's historic Italian district. It's becoming more "gentrified" now but they have GREAT restaurants. And definitely go to Mike's Pastry. Actually, if you do only one thing in Boston, go to Mike's Pastry. They have SO MANY great Italian pastries - it's phenomenal. There's shopping of course - Macy's department store downtown and also Filene's Basement has some great deals. Especially since the exhange rate is so good for you. Harvard Square and Harvard Yard is always fun (also lots of good shopping around there too). There are a couple of art museums - Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts both near each other, and also there's the Institute of Contemporary Art (just built a new building, apparently it's great). Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market is really touristy - it's kinda too bad that they took these old buildings, with so much history, and put all these cheesy tourist shops there. Haymarket is kinda cool, if you're in town on Friday or Saturday - not really a tourist place (it's just an outdoor produce market) but it's a great place to hear local Boston accents and locals. Sometimes it's hilarious. And if you want typical Boston seafood, I would say the Union Oyster House is the best restaurant (Anthony's Pier 4 is second best... Legal Seafood is ok but way overrated). |

Walk the Freedom Trail, visit the US Constitution, eat in the North End, eat at the Wharf, take the T to Fenway park and go to a Red Sox game, and go to the Boston Common.
Quincy Market is a tourist trap. Stay away. |

Quincy Market for sure, never saw so much great food under one roof, you just buy what you want and sit and eat it, shrimp the size of the palm of your hand, yum. I liked going to the original Cheers and the shopping in the square plus the nice aquarium. |

If you take time to go to faneuil, take the time to walk to the New
England Holocost Memorial. It is a very moving memorial.
Take a trip to either the top of the prudential center, or the Hancock building. Ride the T and see some locals lol :) The Aquarium is close to faneuil hall. The boston Museum of Science is interesting. There is a computer museum near Milk Street that is interesting if you like computers.
Good luck and enjoy your trip. (you could travel north and see New Hampshire Too, better then the old Hampshire. LOL) |

Me and my friend went in November, we'd say do some of the museum/history stuff, not all of it you dont want to get bored and shop till u drop! Defo go to the Cheers bar (not the one at quincy market tho!) and go see the ducks in boston common (one i missed last time i went!). We also booked a tour through our hotel so its a good idea to check any leaflets when you get there, we went on a half day tour, there wasnt many people on it and the driver was very friendly, he showed us soo much stuff we wouldnt off seen on our own. He took us to the norm...quincy market, uss and over to harvard plus lots more!
Have a great trip! x |

We took the "Ghosts and Gravestones" tour.. and it was a WONDERFUL historical tour that drove us around the city with a great tourguide..
We also drove the extra time to Salem, Mass.. and saw the Witchcraft museum.. and went down to Plymouth, Mass, and saw the Plymouth Rock..
Fanuel Hall is nice... it's a marketplace with lots of shops to walk around.. and we've been to the aquarium.. that was fun, too..
There's so much history in the area.. |

I would advise you do a Duck Tour first......then you get an idea of what Boston is about. I would certainly recommend going to see the Mapparium at the Mary Baker Eddy Library as its amazing. We also did the Trolley tour and you can hop on and hop off at certain points during one or two days so you cover more of the city. You'll get your bearings more too and from then on you can walk, although the T is really simple to use |
