I've stayed at the Tropicana in an updgraded room (spa suite) and also an upgraded room without a spa. We spent a total of $493.00 for the spa suite (best room available) for 3 nights and $215.00 for the upgraded room without a spa for 3 nights (each time we stayed over a weekend). It was great and I would definitely stay there again. The hotel is older and the casino is showing age, however if you're just looking for a cheap room you'll only spend time sleeping in, I'd definitely recommend the Trop. The room itself was clean and you get all that you need (a clean room with an ironing board, bed, tv, chairs, couch, oversized soaking tub and a great view of the strip.) It's also located next to the MGM Grand, so you can take the Monorail to other parts of the strip. They also have early check-in at noon for no extra charge. You can check out reviews on this hotel at www.tripadvisor.com and search on "Tropicana Hotel and Casino." Good luck! |

I visited Las Vegas in June 2004 and paid about 35 USD per night at the Stratosphere... Very decent hotel... It surpassed my expectations... The only problem was that it was at the end of the strip so I had to take a bus all the time, or walk for a good half hour to get to the MGM Grand or New York New York etc....
But if you are on a budget, go for it!!! |

The Stratosphere has been suggested and it's a good choice if you want to stay on the strip.

Both of these sites are offering great deals on a very nice hotel. The Orleans, for stays Sunday through Thursday, May 6h until August 30th.
http://www.travelworm.com
http://www.i4vegas.com
to check the Orleans out
http://www.orleanscasino.com
The Orleans was rated the #2 best value hotel in the WORLD by http://www.tripadvisor.com to read more reviews http://www.cheapovegas.com
We stay at the Orleans a week or two each year, it's a great place to stay and the food options are among the very best in LV >The video poker selection is no longer what it once was - but they do have a lot of low limit table games.
These hotels are offering promotions
Luxor

online PC "PGET21"
Golden Nugget

Las Vegas Hilton

If you "add details" such as, what amenities you're most interested in, the date you're going along with the number of nights you need and your price range. I could make more accurate recommendations for you.
We go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more at a time and have for over 20 years. I do not recommend a hotel that I have not stayed at and like. We have 45 nights booked for this year "so far"(it's early yet)

I am also doing this and have found a cheap hostel, I don't know if u would prefer a hotel, but anyway, the prices start from $17 a night,. They have alot of deals on also, such as free bbq by the pool, and a vegas strip tour for only $5. This price includes free breakfast, free tea and coffee all day and free washing powder too. U should check it out anyway, prices ar good.

Try some of these : stationcasinos.com, silvertoncasino.com, southpointcasino.com or even vegas.com. Gold Coast is nice, downtown is getting better. The key to cheap hotels/motels is off the strip. Weekdays are a ton cheaper, but by friday half of california is here and things are booked.
Happy Hunting. :) |

Go to expedia.com and try to get a good deal on airfare/hotel with one of the hotels there. I was in Vegas last May and got a great deal on airfare and a hotel. We stayed at the MGM Grand -- it was beautiful and VERY clean. I would stay there again! |

There are always good deals..you need to search for the good ones. Harrahs generally has very decent rates and is located in a perfect spot on the Strip. I've stayed there and it was quite nice with a great outdoor bar.
I just got back from Vegas a couple of weeks ago and stayed at Luxor for $119/night. Nice place.... |

Well, my family has either stayed just outside Vegas in Primm (Buffalo Bills, Whiskey Pete's, and Primm Valley Resort back when it was Primadonna for really cheap rooms but a bit of a drive-Sometimes twenty something per night!) or in Vegas at Circus Circus. Only problem is that Circus Circus's machines are generally dirty.
My brother and his buddy went and stayed at the Tropicana. They really liked it. Just stayed in a basic room but it was a good price and got a book of coupons for stuff they actually liked. Folies Bergere, a magic show, and then they got to play tic-tac-toe...with a chicken. |

I really like the Tropicana. I would check their website directly....www.tropicanalv.com.
Some nights are as low as $39.95. And that is for on the strip. It is an older hotel. But it is clean and a decent place to sleep and shower. If it was dumpy, I wouldn't be staying there.....
so I recommend them.
3 weeks ago, I stayed 5 nights for $160 with taxes and fees. I joined the players club and they send me great rates in the mail. |

Most all the hotels at Freemont St. are rather inexpensive and quite nice. New upgrades and remodels all around |

I'm kind of shocked that no one has mentioned the Excalibur yet - it's in a great location and while the outside is a little cheesy the rooms are standard hotel rooms of reasonable size. Their rates are great - usually between 50 and 100/night. The South Point is also inexpensive and has really nice rooms but is far from the main part of the strip. The Stratosphere and the hotels on Fremont Street are also great choices for bargains. I would not recommend the Orleans - the casino area was a little scary to me. |

You can save a bundle by gambling. If you play, you can get all sorts of things comped whether you win or lose. I've got a friend who goes on gambling trips from time to time. Even if he doesn't win money, he never pays for his room. |

Expect to spend between $130 and $160 a night for any decent hotel in Vegas. Expecting anything less will lead to disappointment! |
