it is speacial because it is much thicker than normal

magpie
It's usually thicker bread and big slices. Big like Texas. I love Texas toast garlic bread, it's great

It is bigger and thicker so it is called Texas Toast. As it is usually served hot instead of cold, it would never be called Alaska toast. Of course to truely be Texas Toast it would need to be deep fried.

Texas toast is thick sliced bread and it's great for making French Toast.

jwbodean
It's named after a rather large state. Nobody goes to the store looking for "Indiana Toast"!
