Hi great question. When I once had the same question in the past I found Money Magazine's "Best Places to Live" to be quite useful in this regard.

Since then their website provides a customizable search that allows one to find one's personal best spot while weighting for such things as affordable housing (most important factor for living expenses), job growth , health expenses, commute time and even other factors like weather, leisure and cultural activities.

There is also a cost of living calculator that you might find useful.

It depends on where you are living now, and where you would like to move to. I live in a little town out side of salt lake city, called tooele. Utah's cost of living is lower than a few other states. It just depends on where you want to go.

i would say some small town out side of chicago ,that place is booming and alwasy somthing to do .but if you live out side of it and drive in to work the pay is better and the small towns have great values.but heres a page to help you research

the moon, you can buy land on the moon really cheap plus you could have a alien as your lover

I used to live around Houston, and the housing there are about 150-200k....very cheap compared to the suburbs of NYC

i would think that the rest of the south and also midwest states are cheap too.

Well if I wasn't so sick of people moving here by the dozen's on a weekly basis, I'd tell you!!! But, then you and your family & friends would move here too, and then our little town wont be a small town, anymore!! I moved my children away from the "Big City" to get them away from "Crime, Gang's, and the like" well it's slowly following us, to the point to where I'm ready to move my children out of here, and I hate the thought, of up and moving them away from the kids they grew-up with, and the town, they have known most of thier lives, you know.. But, this is the "Bomb" for jobs, and low cost of living, you name it, we still have it!!!! Smile!!!
