That's a toughie because I love cities. Here are my favorites in order and why:

Chicago Illinois - the food, the people, the lake, the museums, the history of America - the skyscraper, the world's fairs of 1893 and 1933. The arts and architecture, Grant and Millennium Parks. I was going to say New York but Millennium Park is so unique it is a must-see place. And Chicago is more affordable. And while Chicago's transit is not as good as NYCs Chicago's CTA trains (el's) take you directly into both airports.

New York - the history, architecture, the rivers and waterfronts, the culture, Broadway, UN, Central Park, the subways to get around.

Washington DC - a beautifully planned out city to showcase our nation, the cleanest subways that cover the city exceptionally well, nice people, diversity, international influence = great food, great history and architecture, the mall, the zoo, the museums.

Indianapolis - many people are surprised with how much there is to do - they have worked hard to develop their downtown, and it is one of the cleanest cities in the US, much more so than the above two.

Pittsburgh is very beautiful with its mountain setting. Nightlife is limited - PGH is very much a family and working town.

Cincinnati - neat history, beautiful setting on the Ohio, my favorite museum in the Train Station and other Art Deco architecture, the open air observation deck atop the 48-story Carew Tower.
