I suggest you to go to the Rockefeller Center. It is really cool and fun to be in there, you would enjoy the shops, ice skate rink, and the city itself. I also would suggest you to visit Time Square, and Broadway Theater. There are an awesome areas and places in New York City. You will love it! Enjoy! |

As another displaced New Yorker, I feel you! I miss it a lot. There are just soooo many things to do. One of my very favorite things to do is to spend time in Central Park. On Sunday mornings I would walk around the lake on the stroll and then proceed to the boat pond to listen to the Japanese dude playing what ever instrument it is. (Sounds like a cross between a violin and a guitar).
I like Mustang Grill (upscale tex-mex) at E 85th and 2nd. Good food. (In my neighborhood). The marqurita's are GREAT!
Shopping at Century 21 across from the World Trade Center pit.
Hit Chinatown for lunch and meander to Little Italy for dinner.
Shuffle through Times Square like a tourist.
Take the Circleline cruise around Manhattan at dusk. (something every New Yorker should do but doesn't)
I LOVE NY!
My daughter still lives there so I get back quite frequently.
Whatever you do, make the most of it! |

I was a guest on The Maury show 4 years ago and I was in NY for the first time. The scenery is breathtaking. It's as if I were in a canyon made of concrete and glass. Macy's storefront was spectacular as well as the Empire State building in it's red and green colors for Christmas. A real New York pizza is bigger than I would have imagined and the hustle and bustle of the city is pretty neat too. I walked many blocks of Manhattan just to take it all in. Times Square at night looks as though the sun never set. And I not once got a bit of the infamous New York attitude. Everyone I met was very nice. I'll always remember NYC and hope to return to do some more shopping someday. |

Check out Washington Square Park on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon when the weather is nice. Lots of free entertainment and people hanging out. I go with my guitar, and can usually find cool people to sing and play with. |

You're from NY, so I can skip over allthe stupid tourist stuff that's annoying anyway and go to the places in NY that are really worthwhile. There's three places that I love in the city that I usually go to relax:
Hudson River park (the stretch of park that runs along the Hudson River from about 145st down to midtown). It's a nice long walk with amazing views.
The northern tip of Roosevelt Island. Again an amazing view where you feel like your in the middle of the East river and you have Manhattan on your left and and Queens on your right. At night the scene is breathtaking. There is no boundary between the land and the East River save for a little stone fence. So during high tide you can sit on the edge with your feet in dangling in the water.
Finally, my personal favorite, the pier in Queens right by Fort Totten. It's a bit out of the way to get to, you have to take the Clearview to the last exit right before the Throgs Neck Bridge, but its definitely an inspiring site. The pier is just a small strip of rocks that lead into the Long Island Sound. Once you reach the tip (you have to be good on your feet to not slip and fall into the sound) you are basically in the middle of the sound with nothing but water around you and the Throgs Neck Bridge stretching over to your left. |

New York is definitely the most romantic and cosmopolitan city in the world. Nothing like walking through the Central Park in a snowy day or walking around the trendy shops in Times Square, in the city that never sleeps. |
