What Disney resort would you stay at?

I definitely think staying at Port Orleans is worth the extra money. Having stayed at all three levels of resorts, I'm sure you realize the benefits.

The main reason I would stay at a moderate over a value is because they are usually more quiet. Usually there are fewer groups and not quite as many children, so it isn't as noisy and things like that. Everything just seems to be a little more relaxed and peaceful.

The food court is a little nicer, still not the best food onsite, but it is a little nicer than what you can find at a value resort.

Not sure of who you will be traveling with, but the room is a little larger, so if you need more space, every inch counts. Rooms are a little nicer and things like that as well.

You also have the nicer pools and a boating and bicyling and a few other things you can do right at the resort.

Also, you will have a better location, in comparison to the parks. You will be right between EPCOT and Downtown Disney and not too far from MGM. Whereas at the Movies you are going to be the furthest from Magic Kingdom, you will be close to Animal Kingdom, but everything else is a bit of a treck. The transportation is also a little quicker at the moderates and you will have the option of the boats to go to Downtown Disney. It isn't the fastest way (usually) to get to Downtown Disney, but it is a very relaxing ride and the boat driver usually gives fun facts and things like that.

I think the moderates are definitely worth the extra money. There are so many benefits. Even if you don't plan to be in the room a lot, it is still nice to have a great place to go if you do need to spend some extra time there, plus there are still a lot of other benefits as well. .

The best thing to do is look over what is offered at each and then decide if the extras of the moderates are worth the extra cost.

If I were you, I would stay at the Beach Club, Board Walk, or French Quarter.

I am one of those people who pays the difference for the perks of the deluxe resort and being right on property. The convenience of being able to get right into the parks, the great pools, to my family it is worth the extra money. Of all the deluxe resorts, the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge are the more reasonable in price. You might even think about the Swan or Dolphin. Sometimes they have really good Internet discounts.

I prefer Port Orleans Riveside over French Quarter myself, mainy due to the location.
Movies is about the bet out of the All-Stars resorts.
Still my very 2 fab's are the Polynesian & Contemporary :)
Just my humble opinion ;)
Check out Disney's dining plan, see if it is right for your family... it saves major $$$ if you eat onsite!

Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, and the Polynesian are all beautiful.

If you're on a budget, stay at Pop Century.

Any of the Port Orleans resorts are very peaceful.

I guess it depends on how much time you actually will be at the hotel. if you plan on staying at the hotel most days then yes, it would be worth it. If you are just going to sleep and eat there and spend the days out and about, save the $500 and stay at a cheaper resort.

I think the question you need to ask yourself is how often will you be in the room. If you do not really use the amenities like the restaurants and pools then I would go with All Star. The movies is the most popular and books the fastest of the All Star properties.

The French Quarter has some great perks. It has a boat and bike rentals, fishing at it's sister hotel, Riverside, a boat that takes you to downtown disney, and is just a more upscale atmosphere with its attention to the landscaping and added amenities.

I have stayed in all the Disney resorts and one thing is guaranteed the level of Disney Service Standards does not change and you will get a great amount of magic any where.

I loved staying at Port Orleand French Quarter . It is a small moderate resort so everything is in a short walking distance from your room. There is a nice ferry that takes you to Downtown Disney and to the Riverside. The best part about both Port Orleans resorts is that they are sister resorts and therefore they share amenities with each other. For instance, if you feel like you want to try out the pool over at Riverside, there would be no problem doing so. If you like to take walks, then there is a nice path that takes you over to the Riverside, it is a beautiful walk that goes with the River. Eventhough the All-Stars are great for people on a budget, they sometimes can be very loud due to the amount of kids that stay there. French Quarters has a more serene atmosphere to it. It is definately worth the extra $$.

While I have never stayed at either of these resorts, I would recommend splurging as much as possible. What I have found from my experiences there is that the higher "quality" the hotel the easier it is to travel around the World. I have only stayed in 2 Bedroom Villas at Old Key West, Saratoga Springs and Boardwalk Villas. The Boardwalk Villas can't be beat, it has a wonderful theme, the Boardwalk which can be fun, but the best part is how easy it is to get to the parks. You are only a 5 minute walk from Epcot and a 10 minute walk/boat ride from MGM. I have saved tons of money in getting the Villas for half the sticker cost...renting points from DVC members. This past february we stayed in a 2 BR Villa at BWV for a week for a few hundred more than a moderate would have cost me. I included a link where one could find info on renting points from DVC members.

My husband and I were just in WDW a month ago. We stayed at the All Star Movies. It was the best disney trip we ever took. And well worth staying on the resort. If you dont mind spending the extra $500 then go for it. But since all your gonna probably be doing is sleeping and showering while in the room why spend the money there when you can spend it in the parks or doing other things. Just a thought. Have fun.

As far as the answer to your question -- is the money worth it?

French Quarter will have slightly bigger rooms than All-Star Movies. French Quarter is a bit closer to the parks than All-Star Movies and has a sit-down restaurant at the resort, whereas All-Star Movies does not. French Quarter also has a water taxi transportation option to get to Disney's MGM-Studios and Downtown Disney. These are the main differences, so you have to decide if those things make it worth the extra money.

Additionally, you may re-check the quote after April 12th, as Disney will be releasing a new fall package that includes a free dining plan -- reducing the overall cost of your vacation and maybe making that difference more acceptable. The details of this package may not apply to you and your travel party, but it's worth checking on after the 12th.

I have stayed only at the Fort Wilderness Cabins, and I would again. You have your own little house.

They have hay rides, petting zoo, heated pools, rent paddle boats, for little ones they have a movie outside with a cook out.

If I could afford it I would stay at the Boardwalk, next to Epcot and MGM. And in walking distance to 4 other hotels around the lake.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is awesome. The Maya Grill at Coronado Springs is a fav. restaraunt.

Make sure and visit the Gaylord Palms, which almost borders Disney Property.

I worked as a child care provider for Kid's Nite Out, and actually slept in the Lobby of the French Quarter one night because I got out of the job so late!!

I have toured the Floridan but have never stayed... could not afford it. It looks beautiful and I love the spa (that I go to).
If not the Floridan, I would stay at the Animal Kingdom Resort. Animals run free in the backyard and you can see them as you sit on your balcony.

I don't think so. Most guests don't spend a whole lot of time at their hotel anyway, so why shell out the extra money? Save your money on where you sleep and go with the All Star - music is actually best. They have the best pool.
