Instead of trying to find it out the hard way, go smoke in front of the hotel outside.
If it's too cold, stay inside the room and ask for a shot of tequila or something and watch a comedy show...but w/o the cigs, of course...resist temptation! :) |

There's usually a fine, it's a few hundred dollars. Some times they will ask you to leave the hotel. I would suggest using a balcony or going out front. I was in a hotel once where it was written in the policy that you were fined $250, and it was charged to your credit card so it was inexcapable. If the maids entered the room and smelled it they called security, security came to the room and wrote up the ticket. It's becoming more and more of a big deal.
If smoking in your room is a really big deal i'd suggest switching hotels.
